And did he ever even get to that part about 'helmet safety' and that the guy in the photo wasn't wearing one?
Oh, no, yet another topic for the echo factory to pretend that people care about and repeat over and over.
this is a lot more fun than wading in through the chan spam.

News of the world: allogations of collapse and rise of dictators. Venezuela. Turkey. And, in Paraguay they were Burning down the House!
Nothing that I'd recommend doing . . .
Yes, arson, for any cause, ought not happen.
When I was a teen we would sit at the picnic table and blare the album 'Paranoid' and play the game 'Risk'. Eventually, when I got older, I had some friends and we'd play and each of us would have our own little empire, and the game wasn't to beat everyone, but to maintain the order of it all , and let everyone have their fair part. It's just a game. We were playing for beers and joints probably. Eventually someone would 'break out' and try for conquest.
I got a little older. My urge for world conquoring games turned into something else. It morphed with the advent of video games. Lords of Conquest comes to mind. I think that had four castles. At the end of it all we go on to another machine and play a different game. It's just a game.
Then it was various other video games. Everyone had their own favorites, there were so many of them. It wasn't like it is now where there are onl a couple of video game producers and it's a giant suck fest of paid for content mongering.
Then it was Twisted Metal III. And you blow up the other players. And Demoltion Racer, where it's a demolition derby till the death. But 'death' in a video game isn't real death. It's "go get some crakers and beverages, and then regenerate back into the game when you're fed, etcettera. It's a party. It's about communion of hte players. And probably some pot smoking may have been going on too.
But it didn't have to. After that it was Tomb Raider in all of it's incarnations. And all of those games by Syd Myers. And what ever happened to the dear folks at Sierra, and all the Kings Quest series of games. Or Liersure Suit Larry. Why didn't htat morph into something with staying power? Why did it fade off into the netherlands of last thought. The last time you played the game may have been, in fact, the last time you ever thought of it.
So now my friend has the newest Lara Croft Tomb Raider game and a gigantic television, or is it a screen. It's huge. And when you stand in front of it, at 4K resolution, it looks like you are standing in a country byway. But then he was attacked by ravinous wolves, which doesn't happen anywhere like it does in a video game. Or, in the real world, your never hanging twenty miles hign (eight miles high) above a raging waterfall in passanger car from a trans Andes railway bridge collapse (which isn't shown, you just end up there somehow) and the train is hanging long ways, there is no floor to stand on; but if you click that controller fast enough, or if you have it set on easy mode, you can just vault to the blinking frame (which shows up in the video, and highlights the articles of interest). And next thing you know you're on dry land but there are other obsticles, a constant stream of them. Real life is never like that. And this doesn't have to be about communion with friends, but it can be a singular endevor. And it's perilous in a pointless and non-threatening way. and fun for a time till the lonliness sets in and your realize that your inside on a warm day standing next to a simulated sunlite field when a real sunlite field is right behind your house and you don't go there anymore because all you do is play video games. But whatelse is there, in the Winter, when it's cold, in this modern age? But when real butterflies are flying by your flower garden maybe that's a better place to be.
So you get your fill of war games. You get your fill of video games. And with war games you can really step it up a bit if you have the resources to do it. It's not just a paper-machee mockup, a Texas revolution radio right of way, in paper machette and an particular kind of jones: a jones for what is right and just. not just a mock shock jock with his Constitutional schlock.
Some people inherit a nation. That nation has a long History of respect for the might of armies. And they have access to as much paper machette as he needs to mockup whatever toy-train setup display of arms and hammers and sycles and selling anemia to the world: anemic policy of sabor rattling, more pie and American comic book fair? Oh how I love those Hollywood movies? If you love people you got to lvoe some movies. And ayaaa, love the people who make them. Love the sinner hate the sin? Some peopel can buy all the toy guns that they could ever need to want. And put army men on every ridgeline of their extensive estates, grounds, preserves, and on the fringes of parts that ought to be continuing to be demilitarized, let's all hope that. So if you are ill from the consant thump of a dump truck mump pump rump rumple, rumble, rubble, ruble, we can all work together and no one can eat all the food, and if they tried to horde it all it's a sin. Covetousness. We all suffer from some affliction. It's said that in this life we are given one vexing problem to overcome mine is overwhelming lust for people, and a grand joy that overwhelms and drives away all hope or prayer of a relationship. What little toy soldier would you melt to make your display of horrid chest thumping if you you owned and controlled a nation of thralls? Is there anyone really like that anywhere?
So, ya, a display of fireworks can be fun. In a nonthretening way. You know it's illegal to fly a drone over a fireworks display, but he did it anyway and the pictures are amazing. But the FAA has him scared so he won't post them at the obivous links.
So let's hope that this current display of little-boy toys that real men don't really want to ever have to use, let's hope that these ordinance displays, end soon. Weapons of mass dystructiin? or distraction of petty tyrannts? What man really wants to blow up all his enemies? Have you not learned to love them as The Lord suggested (demanded). Fear of the Lord is a very powerful motivator.
No one wants a 'next' world war. So let's just agree to not have one. But meanwhile, for all those who are hoping for it, let them be afraid. Let them be very afraid. And watch the tigers as they circle their pray. They aren't wanting to be in this arena, it's just kind of the way that some people make it have to be throught their never ending and incessent take-take-take, push-push-push, never give, never compromise, always be didactic and on-message. We live in a world where people demand special privledge and tell you you are a hater if you don't cowtow to their obvious superiority. Because they claim to some ancient wrong. We all got that some raw deal in a very big way. Most people will, and do, help when they know of real suffering. Most people don't want war.
In conclusion: a display of the force of arms often gives enough basis for the disrespectful to cowtow to the idea, that no matter how surley and mean and privledge they feel or are, no matter their dispicible demands, the over whelming force of arms of those who oppose the truculence of boy-king despots, no matter how deep within his self-important delusion the boy-king is humming (his happy rulership song), he has to know that to use such a weapon is always just a threat to deter that one who would use it. So no one who has it can use it if they are a moral person. moral nation. You have the weapon so it never needs to be used. A paradox. So when you threaten, repeatedly, to use it, and do displays of 'might' and launch missle in an unsafe manner, there is no rest for those who display that kind of wickedness. You get the pharrohs curse. what you say to be done to the innocents gets done to you. and the sad fact of collateral damage.
If any of these dictators and boy-king rulers were really revolutionaries, they'd be singing in the choir of peace between nations. That would be a stake into the heart of those who crave and desire war, more war, what they want is a great big war. If such people really exist, who seek constant warfare for their own neffarious purposes, being the boy-king for peace, or being the socialist monoarch of Vesuvius-uela, a volcanic place by now due to that particular government devolving into a fail state run by an overwhelms apparatchick (who probably thinks he's dooing good for his people). So he ought to stand down too, and admit he's failed. That would be revolutionary. And unwind the bad deals he made selling out mining interests. That would be revolutionary. And not letting there be a civil war there, standing down and resigning. Revolutionary. Or if the Boy King of NK stood down and made peace. Revoltionary. They say that they are revolutionaries, but they are just conformists who were put into difficult and unwinnible situations. They need to stop and realize that the future of humanity doesn't hinge on them staying as dictator of their particular place. Revolutinary it would be for them to stand down from their militaristic stance, and make peace within their own nations, and also with the wider world.
We can hope for this. We can pray for their success at not having to ever meet their worst fears. They can trust that when they do the right thing the world won't punish them for it. But if the boy king keeps up wiht his chest thumping, when there are so many serious problems in our great big universe that need solving, for the future of Humanity. War isn't going to solve those problems, but just create more.
But in this world, I suppose, the actions that are projected off against others are the actions that end up being thrust back towards those who, truculently and without regard for comman humanity, chest thump in a way that causes harm to the wider world. Not being of the higher mind, higher consciousness, not behaving as the 'superior' of the I Ching, one is faced with the back-atcha of ones own putrid karmic mud-puddle of dragon chasing. Faithless people meet the fate that they write for themselves by having all the slings and arrows that they thrust upon others, in an outragious way, actually make the mark back at the marksman. So fall down on the road and Fear the Lord. Let's be revolutionary and not have any more wars. We can pray for that.

Kafka wrote comedy. Orwell was a pessimist. Depends who you ask.
Imagine if they both could have lived and made it to Los Angeles, post war, and been collaborators on writing romantic screwball comedies for Hollywood. If we search IMDB for movies written by Kafka, or by Orwell, will we find one? I kind of doubt it.
The dangers of nuclear arms are clear. Who denies it?
I'm not a fan of knee jerk militarism.
The Military man, however, yes, call me a fan of him. The military man is one who doesn't want what he knows how to deter. The necessity of such a man becomes clear in times of turmoil. The knee-jerk activity of quick at the trigger failed-diplomacy . . . ought not happen in a way that makes grand headlines and draws irrevocable condemnation. Diplomacy without the modivation to behave. That might be called negotiating from weakness. But if, and when, people become unhinged, the negotiation is not as important as a battoning down of hatches, storm is ccoming, acting like a large sea will rise, and every one secure it for the storm . . .
We survive. There is an old film about a boy who told everyone that he knew how to build a bell. But he was lying. And in the end he had to do what he did to survive, and alos to work through the grief of loosing his family to slavers and foreign invaders. This film had some very difficult scenes spliced within, for example one where a horse is being forced out a door onto a balcony in a tower, way up high. the scene, brillient in a cinematographic way, raised eyebrows in the film community when this movie hit the circuit sometime mid century (circa 1960).
We survive. We survived all of that, and the constant suck that has been going on for the last 150 or so years. We've survived.
And if things are lost, they can be found.

as an example . . . I have tried to do some introspective things as I come into awareness of my own flaws, and recognize the way I act and correct my self and make a better narrative for myself and for others.
you raise me up from far away when a memory of you lifts me!
Somethings never change nothing need stay the same ah, but on a website the constant change is kind-of the point . . .
change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .
To live within such a realm really isn't possible.

After 40 different versions what can one say about it anymore? It's installed in all my systems, a day earlier. There are a few minor issues, but no show stoppers.

Ya, I decided to load Fedora Core 38 Beta about a month ago, and this machine kept shutting down . . . I think I finally fixed it. Tomorrow is the big release day for the Fedora Core 38. My production workstation is still running FC37. I don't know if I'll jump right on it right away. . .
my server is still resetting, or maybe I have it fixed. I decided to just remove plasma-desktop, as I don't use it. The journals were giving all kinds of errors with that, and I think that might have been the issue, conflicting with the gdm that I do use. Worst case I'd just go to runlevel 3 but, as I said in another column, I don't really even know if anyone views these pages anyway.
My production box would upgrade but the dnf says it would downgrade grum and associated tools, and that's never a good thing to do. I'm just not going to do it! anyway I'll check tomorrow when the offical release is and probably do it then. If I'm in the mood.
So now I've run every version of Fedora serving this website! that's a long time.
April 17, 2023 8:28 PM ESThere is from a year ago:
It took some time to figure out how to defeat the new screensaver built in, but I was able to. It's the biggest downside to the new Gnome.
I set the keybindings to something I don't use, and then put in a custom keybinding to use the old tool.
There are other minor things that annoy too, like the restoration of a deleted file that I always have to delete again on every FC core upgrade. The file is name camera-shutte.oga. It's in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo
1:12 AM EST 9 April, 2022
At the precipice of coding.
a mountain trail often has a place with a great view and a perilous fall if you wonder just a bit too far to one side of the trail. It's called a precipice. It's not a scary place. It's a safe place that one passes through.
OK, so I've done an update to FC34.
the biggest issue was . . . . drum roll . . .a lock up of gnome.
and if i clicked on the activities button I would need to reload (log out log back in).
I was able to run stuff without that, and thus determined a list of files that might need to be removed. I did as full reinstall of gnome as such:
dnf reinstall gnome
then I did a
dnf list installed |grep fc33
which gave me a list of files to consider uninstalling.
from that I got the following:
first odd issue:
sudo was not at first working! I had to install it! I kept the configuration file so I have my preferences still set up.
dnf install sudo dnf reinstall gnome-* dnf reinstall kde* dnf reinstall NetworkManager* dnf remove gnome-screensaver dnf remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-20.04.0-2.fc33.noarch dnf remove xorg-x11-xkb-extras-7.7-33.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove compat-openssl10-1:1.0.2o-11.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove mozjs60-60.9.0-7.fc33.x86_64
there are still some fc33 packages, (I also looked for fc32 packages, anything older that was gnome)
sudo dnf list installed |grep fc33 biber.noarch 2.14-4.fc33 @fedora gamin.x86_64 0.1.10-37.fc33 @fedora libgta.x86_64 1.0.9-5.fc33 @fedora
if removing a package also removed large numbers of other packages, I left it. For each of the few that I did remove, I always would make sure by reading what would happen before agreeing to the transaction.
now the gnome-shell is working and it doesn't lock up. So which of the packages that I removed made the difference? I am not sure.
and so after just a few short hours of install, I've got my system working in away that seems normal.
the new gnome shell moves the icons to the bottom of the screen.
I find gnome-shell to be annoyingly poppy at times. I tend to do things rapidly, and all the popping can be nauseating.
It is helpful to learn how to use dnf. I've found that the reverse history stuff works as long as you haven't made too many changes. It's a dicey, though, to try and go back to an older revision but I did it ONCE. Next time it didn't work out so well. AT that point it was installing dnf and yum from rpms.
and I had success. It's the kind of thing that when you know how to do it . . .
but there was one other trick that I needed and it was a scary way to reset a password and I did discover how to do it. I'm not sharing that one (barely remember) it's like these things exist in a nether, and it's best to . . . let the knowledge fade unless you need it. It's too scary to dwell in that space.
anyway, gnome shell is working. It's not flighty and hanging up. And all it took was to remove the old packages of gnome that might conflict with it. And now I can continue with my review.
