Raining and Raining and Raining
which is good for my lawn
I was reading an article from the LA times website about how to kill your lawn. I've get a better idea: let it die all by itself. But if they were needing to have some other kind of landscaping, they can kill the grass with a bunch of different methods. I have a similar problem, but it isn't grass, but moss that I want to kill. I find that a Garden Weasel works to rip up the moss, but seems to leave the grass alone. I did that for a while. But there are other chores, and fixating on one type of yard work doesn't make the grass grow better, it is only a kind of obcession. If you try too hard you burn yourself out. It's a symptom of something else: an allegory for something that is going on in your (my) head. I say 'your' in the tense of the vernacular meaning a third person indeterminant gender pronoun case.
So, if you live in LA, it might make sense to kill your lawn. It will die all by itself if you leave it alone and the conditions are not correct.
If I take their advice and plant the kinds of plants that they suggest . . . well we know that is rediculous. They wouldn't last long in New England. I think it's laudible to stop trying to plant a New England style lawn in a dessert like Los Angeles.
You need to plant the right things or no matter how hard you try they don't ever take. You can't just decide to plant something that won't stand the environment, you try to change the landscape into something that it can't be, and it won't happen. You might end up with a wasteland while all your efforts at hopeful change of the scenery that is more to your liking all just dies. Dries up. Shrivels. The chickedee will be twittering off to the side, in a neighbors bush. All of your neighbors will think you have gone crazy. But it's your choice at your station to plant whatever kind of yard you'd like, but you have to deal with the climate.
But then there are those kind who say 'oh, ya, i'm gonna have a great big yard. And giant trees. And a fountain. And everything will be magical.' But they spent all their effort describing their perfect paradise. They didn't do any actual turning of soil. Nor did they pick plants that would work. So the plazza or public space is left some kind of a waste land, dust, and bird dew, and nasty smells because nothing is recycling, and there is not Oxygen being produced but only being sucked up by the people who wonder through.
So you drive off. You wonder "How much money do you suppose they budgetted for that epic fail? And who is it that is rebilling the Mexicans?" Well, synicism is healthy at times. And it helps us reflect. We fuss and rebill and do a contractor swap off with the cheepest labor to try and have the prettiest square that costs the least to maintain but costs a lot in the budget. The money is all trickled down. But the square is a disaster and an epic fail. You ponder this as you pass, but yuor really don't know the real story.
But then down the road, across town, without any budget, giant wildflowers grow all along the easements and the places between the rail lines, huge flowers flooding along the walkways, in small patches which hadn't gotten mowed, 3 feet tall by early July and the rain . . . the rain makes them pop even larger.
Ya, they need no budget but they do need rain.
So, mostly, when it is 'right' landscaping should be perrenials and those annuals that one does fuss over. With annuals it might be that yo plant it somewhere and it pops up and you don't have to do much. But othe times, if there are a lot of squirrils, rabbits, deer, chipmunks, or other pests (inscets) the seedlings get munched like they are lettace.
This year I planted batchelor's buttons. Some I planted in the ground. Some in a pot. The ones in the pot grew very fast, and there were too many of them, so I had to thin them down. I put some of them into other pots. The ones that I seeded in the ground haven't grown very big now, there are about 1 or 2 inches high. The onces that I planted in the pot, that I didn't transplant, are giant! About 18 inches tall and blooming right now. It's night time so the blooms may be closed.
Ya, it really matters the conditions: critters that eat it when it is still a seedling assure that there won't be that many flowers.
I have also planted Scabosia, which is called Japanese Aster. These were doing nicely. But the inscets like them and they are being munched. I have no plan to save them.

August Tomatoes

It's August. People are harvasting their tomatoes. Other people don't have any tomatoes. The chipmunks will eat every single one while it's still very tiny. You need a fortified and fenced in garden.

as an example . . . I have tried to do some introspective things as I come into awareness of my own flaws, and recognize the way I act and correct my self and make a better narrative for myself and for others.

Somethings never change nothing need stay the same ah, but on a website the constant change is kind-of the point . . .
change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .
To live within such a realm really isn't possible.
