Merry Christmas!

2016

I met a pleasant clerk at a department store. The young man wore a Santa hat while working the die-cast section of the giant big-box store. This young man wants to go to Keene State. Can you please send some good vibes to all who need to get into college, want to go, and aren't sure if they will get accepted? Also to make college more affordible.

The young man wants to study History. Send him some good vibrations!

Get Well Carrie Fisher!

wow Debbie's daughter! Hope she's better. Want her up and well. Her mom needs her to still be around.

You can imagine, 'oh, fame, whatever.' But these real people, though famous, have the same problems, as we all know, as all the rest of us. More famous, so more people worry? I guess that's it, for real.

No one wants any hurt or pain for any season. It's not more important now, nor is it less. Sometimes urgency and concern overtakes us. The things that happen in the wider world overwhelm us. We get broken up by the fate of famous strangers. We want her to be well! Directed energy of hope and urge for something better, within reasonable outcome, for someone, anyone. If there is a cure, let the cure be brought. Let the patient be healed. We don't have to wait for a miracle because we have a doctor who knows how to treat this condition. Heart attacks are a very sad effect. What is the real condition then? Condition being that we all want her to be well. We're sad, concerned, and worried about Debbie as well, whose got to be freaking out right about now.

You know I remember when the part of a famous movie had that the character, very famous, was outside of a Debbie concert, in Las Vegas, and fearing and loathing everything around him (and his lawyer, who actually died under mysterious circumstances, outside of the fiction). I remember thinking "you know, I do love this woman, camp queen of the big screen, and it's really kind of horrible that Hunter would do what he's doing." Well, now, we know it's fiction. Mr. Thompson was writing a worst case bad-trip experience where all the taboos of Los Vegas, and America in general, are broken in various measures, the culmination being the scarelige of disrespecting some Jane Russel looking waitress whose at the end of a bad shift and enduring a shtttyeee life. She starts bawling and we ought to know . . . we really ought to know . . . that Hunter, but just the character because Hunter was writing a kind-of fiction, Hunter was behaving very badly. Shame is what he must have felt in hindsight (assuming it's just thin fiction).

What does this have to do with Carrie getting sick on a plane?

You know, Carrie is really famous. And Maybe you didn't know whose daughter she was? Debbie is also very famous. And Carrie, famously (you use the word famous too much!) wrote a book called Postcards from the Edge. Also, if you are into the inside baseball of America, and you want insight into the world of the 1950's, and the brilliance of the pundits and comedians, to get a real flavor of American, and see how we aren't all as portrayed by some. I'm divigating. My point: you can see Debbie Reynalds on an episode of What's My Line from the 1950's, when she was the mystery guest. Learn about New York City, and personalities from the 1950's and get a flavor of the kind of public expectation for the wider good that was common back then, and expected, how polite and concerned everyone was, and happy for Debbie for finding love. She was in love with Eddie Fisher. Eddie is Carrie's dad.

I often troll IMDB and read through the biographies of famous people. I was surprised to learn about Carrie's sibling, who was well known and a sit-com star (she was the joyously annoying character of Paige, on Ellen).

If you are into gossip, then you have 60 years of it with the story of Debbie and Eddy, Liz, Connie, Carrie, Jollie, and a host of others. And then the tie in to the Hunter Thompson novel. And Star Wars (cause Carrie was in that too.). And of course, the very funny John Belushi, who any student of American comedy needs to hear about. Specifically Carrie also played an obcessed girl friend in . . . The Blues Brothers.

Spending the holidays in the hospital must suck. Being famous and having to live in the spot light of public adoration must be very difficult. Understanding that people do adore you, and that it isn't all creepy staulkers, must make it a little bit easier. For every obcessed fan who crosses a line, there are thousands who would never dare to violate the code of civility that we ought to use when encountering anyone, not just celebrities. Seque to another important story.

Carrie passed out on a plane, the reports are. I'm not giving an accurate report, nor are the details of what happened to Carrie important to my point. On a plane we have various rules that we use in order to maintain civility. And if you fly a lot, you know, that you have to maintain boundries, even within the herd of people. Some people don't do it well. If a famous person is there you might do better to let them be, of course. And I have heard (but never been out in it) that in Hollywood everyone knows to leave famous people alone. It's the brash and the uninitiated that would dare to approach a well-known celebrity in a public place when that person is wanting some time with friends or family. I can't be a source for you about that other than to say that I've 'heard' of it. I can give you other insight concerning how to behave in other cases, around what some find fascinating, but others see as ordinary. I'm divigating (again, I do that a lot when I'm blogging.).

I'm sure by now many have heard about how someone accosted the daughter of the president-elect on a Jet Blue flight. Sad for that man, probably fueled by . . . I can speculate. My guess is that if someone is so bold (only you could be so bold on a plane to anyone, not just a well-known daughter, than one must be in some kind of bubble of mind, of sorts, where there is this imagination of some greater importance to one's own deal. I've got that, that's why7 I blog all this nonsense, in draft form, but I'm not accosting strangers on a plane.

Ya, one pill-fueled tyrade can ruin your career . . .

I don't know anything about Ivanka other than she's said to be very liberal about a lot of her views, and an influence on her dad for a softer approach, outside of the hyperbole. The liberal ire that is flushed into the stream of main-media does effect some in a curious way where they suddenly have emboldened behavior and behave like petulent children, spoiled little brats, unaware of what is really happening around them. In the case of causing a scene on a plane with strangers, some of whom were quite young, one would hope that if you did see a young mother and her kids having to travel like that that you'd be supportive. Give them some love. Beam them some good intentions, be forgiving, ignore the problem toddler.

But, no. It was politics. And the guy said something.

Hey, listen. It's not just a story in the news. These are real people. I'm gossiping, yes, that is what I am doing here. But hopefully we can extend a hand of friendship instead of condemnation. And incidental descriptions of the man, and 'what kind of man' he was (his 'orientation') ought to be ignored. That man's behavior in no way reflects on people who may have a similar orientatin, and are called by a word to lump them into a group. And for all we know the man had taken something to help him easy his flight anxiety, and it also removed the social impediment of mind that prevents pepole from being rediculous and accusitory to strangers. So maybe the story ends where the man actually apologizes and is met with loving acceptance of that apology. I don't get to write the outcome. But from the little that I have heard about Ivanka, she gets a lot of grief from partisan people, when maybe they don't really know anything about her except who her father is?

In America we have no Royalty. I know that some people expect presidents to be like Royals. But really, they are not. And the saner of the family don't want to be treated like that. America is a place where the expectation is that very famous people just mix in, and are part of the population. So them might be with you on a train, a bus, in an elevator, sitting next to you on a plane. And for the most part we should not treat them like they are royal, and they probably wouldn't like it either, but I'm persuming to know.

If they are imperious and act self-entitled, and have a 'rank has it's privildeges' attitude? Then they get scurried in the gossip pages.

I've digated, again. Merry Christmas to all!

Please pray for Nathon and those
hoping for college.

May he and those like him
get the education that they need
and want.
