Allan Holdsworth had his chops! He was a master guitar player whose playing style is studied and emulated by many other guitarists. If you don't use all of your fingers while playing you limit the expansive effect of flowing notes like Allan Holdsworth was able to do. The more that you play the better you get. Find him in an on-line video and watch him play. He was amazing.

So for the last few months when I've played (which isn't a lot of time) I have tried to use all four fingers. And today I was doing that and thinking how when I lead with one finger, I can choose which one that is. I can use the forearm as a pivot and that easily lets me go up and down the scale. If I lead with the middle finger the index can be played on the string beneath (in a higer pitch) to give a III, and then the other two can do what they do on the same string of the lead finger. And I can swap around from which finger I am leading. I'm just an amature.

Max Wedge Belevedere. I was watching a youtube video here of cars peeling out at a drag track. I've got my stereo and surround hooked up now, and so when I played the clip I got to hear the sound of the vehicles for the duration of the run.

I watched a YouTube video of a Max Wdedge Belveder 1964 at a drag strip as it pealed off the starting line. It sounded like music as it sped off down the track. The front end lifted up just as the belvedere moved out from the line, it was awesome. I'd like to hear the same kind of rig doing that on a singing bridge and see what kind of sound it makes.

At the start it sounds like a motor. Not really musical. But once it's a couple of hundred yards out, the acceleration whine is tempered by the doppler effect as it speeds off and there is a worrbling and some very pretty harmonics in the highend (if you listen on high). But since the motors are very loud at the beginning of the run, and that isn't the musical part, it might be best to lower the volume at the start of the run, and then crank it up once the car gets down the track a ways. Kind of sounds like an airplane as it accelerates away after buzzing over the top of you. Or the sound, from the past, of being on some long highway, probably in a river valley somewhere, where a down hill run means that one can get a lot of speed. And when you stand there, country road somewhere, anywhere, forests, fallow fields, and hardwood bogs lining both sides of some long stretch of highway. The middle of the day. And then, suddenly, like a sudden swarm of bees you hear it: that high power being torqued to the max and barrolling down the highway, no police? Or maybe they are following along behind. It's suddenly there, and then it's suddenly rushing off. Down that long and vibrant stretch of lonely nowhere highway, probably a good river for angling. And then, that might be it, staties in a helicopter following over head?

I thought of a story about a guy who is a collector of antique automobiles. That is the kind of guy who puts it away. Maybe he never brings the rig up to full speed. Maybe he doesn't like to put miles on his car. In any case it's not just a collection but also heirloom quality stuff. The stuff of any motor buff's fantasy garage, the kind of collection that only an eccentric millionaire could ever afford to keep and maintain.

And so, somehow, and this would have to all fit into the 100 minute time segment, the collection needs to be transported because of some plot complication making the storage of the items unsafe? A dam up the hill from the rich guys estate is overflowing and about to breech due to the effects of a recent earthquake? Too much rain from el Nino causes flash floods around the rich guys hillside ranch (in bevs hills?). He needs to transport the cars and so he gets a posse of 'stars' of comedy, the kind of people that work for Adam from Manchester (which Manchester? Manchester by the Sea). In any case it's a free for all as stars are running these very expensive and glamorous hot rods on a cross country run, full speed ahead, tribute to every road movie that there ever was, And all the classic cars that were ever in them. A lot of the footage could be stock from old movies and television.

A subplot (or a whole nother franchise) could be star of famous movie with famous car is back in the car in which he filmed the scene with famous dead holliwood funny man, and he gets visited by the ghost of said dead hollywood funny man, like he's scrooge and the ghost is there to tell him to stop being a jaded mid-life looser failure of a person (his character from a sit com, he's probably not really like that in real life, it's a gag piece, a farce, a comedy) and get his funny back on. The ghost asks him "what would [character from famous movie who was a bad boy] do in this situation." And then the run starts. Put that car through it's paces, if he didn't want to risk collision he could have had the cars shipped on a train. (the train was out due to the floods?)

In any case the basic plot is that a collection of classic cars if hyjacked by a crazed group of hot-rod highwaymen who just need to get cross country really fast and don't care that they are wreaking a whatever cool and classic vintage car that it is which they are putting through the paces, and putting the petal all the way to the floor.

Of course, just like any great cross-country run movie there can be cameos of famous local celebrities as the posse of outlaw hot-roders, some of them famous hollywood people, pass through a town. Wouldn't this be a blatent ripoff? Does such an idea need to be licensed if someone were to use it?

There are so many things to make fun off. I can just imagine what they can do when they get to Chicago or Washington DC, or other famous hot-spots (Balitmore, Kansas City).

How many road movie cleches can we pack into a 90 minute hot-rod movie?

Well, numbers can be fun. And patterns do show up. It's all meaningless, really. But a diversion.
