The storm has gone off to where storms go, dissipating off towards the Maritimes. People get into that 'storm mind' and know to wait through it. The press that reports the weather sometimes doesn't hype it to the level of what it will really be, but speaks about major events of the past, Hurricane Gloria, Hurricane Bob, Hurricane Irene, and brings all that into recollection. If you ever experienced an event like that, it's hard to not worry when you hear that a tropical depression is tracking through the valley-towns. the water piles up very quickly into the river when the storm is over a valley. If the storm tracks up the valley, there could be flooding in the towns along the rivers. When it's major flooding, that's when people say 'that was a bad storm'. And you see cars piled up in a gorge along the highway? (Like as happened so recently in Tennessee?) Well, one doesn't see that too often. That would be a 'major storm' in people's minds. We have to take seriously the floods which happen very fast when a tropical depression brings a lot of rain, must be taken seriously, and people do go into an ominous mood of 'must do'. People are sent out to knock on doors, even, saying 'you must get out now' to occupents who haven't heard the news of the big rainstorm. The images from Tennessee show us cars wrecked into a pile in a gorge, below a highway bridge, to where the vehicles had washed in the flood that ensued from 17 inches of rain.

17 inches of rain!!! That's a lot of rain in a short time. The water piles up and flooding ensues.

So People take possible floods very seriously. But when the storm tracks in some other direction, people feel as though they've been put-upon by the news machine.

"Everyone get ready!!! Big storm. buy all the milk."

But if the storm never comes, that won't stop some from trying to buy all the product of some item, and it does kick up the hording instinct that some people harbor.

Hording leads to having to throw away spoiled items. Stockpiling isn't the same thing. That is saying 'OK, I know how much I'll need, I'll buy that much in bulk and keep track of how much I use and that way I get a better price. But I'd have to have a place to store it. I'd have to 'keep my eye on it' (a householder must 'keep an eye' on everything in his household, so as to make sure it doesn't take wings and turn into a dragon in his life and take over . . . Hording lets the obsession take wings. The cost of keeping all that stuff, the mental costs, and the physical costs, tell the prudent 'stocking shelves for oneself is fine, and keeping an eye on it, to have a good price, but also to not over do it. You can't stock up on eggs. they have a use-by date

The long discussion of 'oh the coming storm' when the storm never hits where you are is . . . displayed below (in a previous post). And I went on with it, too, warning someone in the Valley where the storm never went, about the rains that he would have to keep an eye on. And I suppose he might comment to me, next time we interact, 'ya, see, the storm never hit where I was.' Nor did it really do much where I am either. So my post from a few days ago, below, displays the mindset that one gets into when a storm is predicted. We are triggered into this by the weather reports. We spend our time watching the storm track. But wise people know that the predictors often get the track of a storm wrong. The best method seems to be to understand that a sudden storm could always come, and to not let news reports cause a disturbance. If the storm is coming, then, you're already ready for it, and you carry on with what you had planned, as long as the weather doesn't make that impossible.

the limbo of a looming storm . . .

The big storm is still out there to the west of here, off over New York or Pennsylvania or New Jersey, with buckets of rain pouring down into the vallies and piling up in the swamps and gorges will be flooding fully, and roads may start to flood over.

the track of the storm has a curious bend in it that loops it around. For me I say 'OK, they know something I don't, so they put this north-easterly directed track in the simulation.

They' being the meterologists of whoever calculates the predicted track. The devisers of such mapping make it clear that the track is merely a speculation, or forecast, not to be considered as a final track. We know this because so often the tracks are not as predicted or speculated.

The speculated track that is shown now does a loop around and tracks (in speculation) from west to east through New England, mostly over the Mohawk valley region, and then off along accross the Merrimack and off into Maine. So flooding? At least flooding in Conneticuit.

Seems to be a rather slow storm so . . . it won't be till tuesday that if passes. Or maybe it will just keep heading west? We'll find as the day goes on.

Big Earthquakes

Haiti just got whacked with a big earthquake, as per a USGS webpage!

There were two 8 Mag earthquakes that happened almost . . . simultaneiously halfway across the world on Thursday, one south of Alaska, the other in the South Atlantic Islands claimed by Britian.

my conclusions? Well it's just curious and . . . such large earthquakes happening at once . . . is something I'd never heard of before. Well, I figure earthquakes are related to geo-solar energy transfers and that is not sanctioned by the science sacntioners (those who use science to promote the energy and political agendas for their self-dealing and self-profiting, who might be called 'climate alarmists'

So whatever is happening, it's habbening

I didn't go away, I just understand that noone uses this site.

Othersites do say that 'free speech' is there thing. I understand that regulations basically banned it, unless it's just you, in the mid 2000-ohs, about 2005, or even earlier. The requirements for moderation were too high for guy with web server knowledge to set up 'easy peasey, post your farts here.' kinds of pages. I participated in a well known so-called free speech site for quite a long time as a lurker and an observer. If one would have followed me here, one would have understood that I didn't give a 'free speech' place to others because I understood what would be done wiht it, and I didn't have the financial where-with-all to pull it off. I said 'it's gonna be individuals with individual sites, so' . . .

And I watched in horror as self-dealing bearoucrats and insiders 'created' out 'thin air' the sudden requirement of the various flavors of social media. I'd been a slash/dot maven, for a time. Long before that I'd write politicial jokes in white out on infrastructure (just kidding, or am I ?) 'Citto City is Absurd!'. But who would read it? The town painted over all of it. I did it briefly as a teen.

So free speech is a thing, but you know it's not free , no cost, free. Nor is it 'free speech guaranteed' by some website. What it is (iz) that if you want to print or publish or scribble or play with crayons you are allowed to do it. But you have to keep it in the barnyard. I suppose that means that your behavior can't also be a property crime. For example my use of whiteout to write stupid crap when I was in like 10th grade was technically illegal and really kind of dumb, but that's what unsupervised children do sometimes. We were refugees from somewhere else, living in someone elses's planned horror show. And I saw it as something else, wouldn't play along with that. even if you're born there. If your parents weren't . . . how could I have known?

Free Speech is not a guarantee that your behavior won't cause issues and provoke discord in your life. If you choose to be a pest with badgering methodologies, and become someone's nightmare, then so it is for you, you write your little sex-play psycho drama and post it as if it's rival people have a kurfuffle on say, a popular sight, maybe calle it Niegn-spreck (how does one spell neyght in German?

But the channel is well used. There is no way to know who is really running it. And then they get a moderator who wigs out and does a show of being a megahater (a MAGA hater)?

Top it off with 24 discord hazing. And the site owner supposedly not being involved with the day to day running of various boards. It was a board favored by a known media persona (and cultural myth? or is it real? or is it fake or is it gayrating on you to know or to not knoww, or to say, or to not say, what you know, you you don't (don' know) know? If I knew it was real? or what is going on there? and then everyone starts getting banned. No one seems left who'd been there before, (I'm banned too. So is it a free speech website or not? of course it is for the moderators. they get to say what they want. And if I would want to have a board on that I could email the guy at the head of it. I used to enjoy interacting, and trying to derail the obvious bunk, about which I have copious notes. there would be no way to record all of it. But I'll tell you, now, in August, or 2021, most of what you see there is not real. and also basically the moderator seems to be saying "if you are not anonymous, with a secret proxey,, then you're probably shouldn't be playing in this space."

I would thus need to 'pay for' an anonymous proxey and I've always maintained "I don't like being that way, I don't care if real whitehat insiders read or know what I post. I want to be read. I'm not trying to hide. I'm not afraid.

I've had this website since maybe . . . well how long? It goes way way back, way back. I used to just run in DYNDNS, then I got a real server (with a dif url, that I do not update or use anymore, thought I stll get emails as if it's all still there, and I can go to the URL. But I abandoned it

So I let this place go by the wayside. But here I am again. And all the 'ban me, don't ban me' stuff is a game that I don't like playing.

Censorship seems to be the new thing on social media. There are those who boldly discuss who they want to ban next. They act as if it's their right to be the censors and decide who has a voice and who does not. Do they hear themselves? Do they understand that they morph into the people who they claim to be against?

They dont' always leave you alone. It seems they still sometimes want to connect to try to draw that cray cray narrative out one more time. And you have to explain that, no, sorry, this is a bit. You caught me while I was writing a character, that's not me. I am using tht as a dialog in a paly that I'm having my character write inside of his narrative, he's writing his own play about a guy writing a play.

It's like he feeds on it, I get bothered that he lets me go on with it.
