And did he ever even get to that part about 'helmet safety' and that the guy in the photo wasn't wearing one?
Oh, no, yet another topic for the echo factory to pretend that people care about and repeat over and over.
this is a lot more fun than wading in through the chan spam.

Some years back I travelled to Yosemite a few times. What a place. Here is a link to some images of El Capitan
Hillary's campaign seems to have jumped the shark. I've been up front about it here: no matter who you vote for Hillary is not a good choice. I say this for her good as well as the good of the nation.
Sometimes what someone wants isn't what is good for them. We need a clean break from the last 8 years for a reevaluation of the path. These people are dealing internatiionally and it's become cartel governance: highest bidder? Look which dude is being 'Robin Hood', so he says. But which people is he feeding? And what is the tyranny that he is fighting against? Some evil brother of a king on crusade? The allegory breaks down very quickly. Robbing from the rich to give to the poor is still robbery.
Bill, you can tell us, who are the corrupt people from whom you steal? Who is the equivalent of the Sherrif of Nottingham? And who is the king, off on foolish globalist quests (a crusade, it was called crusade, I'm reassociating it with globalism, a cheep trick, and I admit it) who are the new crusaders? And what is their cause? I could write a false list. Any such list would have to be, in one sense, a false list. The making of lists of groups of people by powerful shepards of public poitics, which is a more important role, that could be seen as a danger to anyone on that list. If handed over to the head of a tax collection agency who has been subverted by your so-called Robin Hood ways, someone who you might find charming in a one on one, sharing a place ride, drink up, somone who makes a wicked martini. You're plotting you next Robin Hood bit. It must be a whole lot of fun for you flying around with Hookers, quite an addiction if it's all true (or is it a glorious fictional persona to give you the bigger edge).
Instead you have a wife who demanded that you get another go at the White House. And there was no telling that woman no. When people need to be told to stand down from grand plans often they have reached such an excitible state due to those grand plans that they are unwilling to accept wise council, even from a spouse. And the people who are willfully doing what some see as evil, who are the type that a Robin Hood would steal from are very very unkind (so goes the myth). And if that is the case than the efforts (the noun that I was going to use was 'war') agianst then goes on and we know how horrible and twisted those who willfully persue evil can seem, so it seems. I'm back to my punch line, I use it all the time: no one in the real world is really that way, it's a grand hyperbole of fiction. And we ought to know that. So if you are Robin Hooding, you ought not brag about it. Because anyone who was a 'donor' to your cause (I'm not talking about your foundation, and that, because I haven't studied it but headlines (for articles that I will not read) use a very low percentage number to indicate the amount that is alledged to be used for charity). Donors to your cause might find it curious. And you'll have to explain to them "No high-figure of foreign cartel dictatorship, I didn't mean you.", "No, wicked mistress, now on trial, of the reptilian final solution bank of pay-up-sucker apocylypse, I didn't mean your multinational transendental suck-machine." So, Bill, I get it. You have a gangsters soul and you thus do have that Robin Hood thing going on. But doesn't it seem to the world that perhaps you have given in to the giant YUM and given up on the 'giving to the poor' part? And isn't it tasteless of me to ask you? How the hell do I know who you slip a mealticket, and buy a trip to a get-well clinic, something that they really need. Let's hope you do a lot of it. So that's the idea, then benevelant dictatorship of hip children of the old-mob blackmail mentality, anyone who is not a grandstanding aho, slave-mongering cur, anyone who isn't those things, well, they ought to applaud the grand concept of gangsta Robin Hood governance, and the queen of mean, but only if you're that way first (that would be the only way tolerable).
I've written a character. I don't know anything about you or Hill, I know nothing and all I do is fictionalize. But in the fiction, for that kind of thing to work, you and your Boss Tweedness, and doing good for good people and extorting the rest for just cause, if you were to be that way (I don't think Boss Tweed can be fairly described to be that way either, but who am I to say, I'm not an historian) if you were that way you'd have to be the nicest and most eccumenical of people, open, accepting, forgiving, and understanding, to a fault, about crotchety ness and hyperbolic commentary of the rival candidate, who used to be a chum of yours, maybe some one who you decided not to shake down (for you give to the poor). If it all works out with a hero like that the world becomes a much fairer place. This is teh genre of Socialsit realist literature in one sense, this kind of sotry (not my story). My story is of the person who believes the lie that a Robin Hood expresident is a good thing, and that he is it. In my story there are not any real people, but I have fictionalized and expresident, as if I was an intimate confidant and I'm talking to him off record, in concern for his soul. and for the soul of his dear wife, whose been ill lately. This is just fiction.
So the real answer? Will the public vote for Hillary? Only if they still believe the bit, Bill. Only if they still believe it. And we all hope that you're kind nature would interceed if she really did need to take a haiatus, or perhaps be under long-term care in one sense. She already is, isn't she?
And then the next question: this health care thing, the constant and 24 hour surveylance of her. Is this the kind of care that everyone should be able to have now? Because my guess is that Robin Hood would have demanded that anyone who was ill would get the same treatment that he would get, egalitarian that he is. We all know that these are all suplimental to a special category person, that she is getting much better care than most people could ever hope for. So there might seem to be amoung some a sense of slight . . . well I'm sure you get what I mean so I won't be so tasteless to accuse that that could be percieved, even if it is just a story, and I understand that I don't really know you at all.
There is another thing, when people get weak and malnurished they will often revert to regressive points-of-view that aren't valid except in some long ago genre of early adult collective delusion. We split the world up into categories of pepole. We see them as 'this' or 'that' instead of as Bill or Hill. We make them a representative of what we imagine they self-identify. Some people use very mean words to describe particular groups, single word putdown slurs that can make the ones who hear it wig-out. We need less words like that, less labels used as a put-down. And so when someone does that we see it as a retrograde point of view. She was having a bad day. This isn't how she really thinks about 24 percent of the nation, it's just a worst case delusion and she has to know this. People, themselves, are never the idea of bad conduct (deplorible). The behavior is what might be deplorible, never the person.
She knows this, you know this. Some talk like that as a gloss, to be concise. But in the end the official version, and the public version even for private people, ought to be edited with all the pejoritive removed. And a president is supposed to do this on his/her/? feet, without a teleprompter. Some might emplore you to consider that perhaps it's time for a different choice. But that would be you giving up the gold ring of power, and it would be a very very heroic act for both of you.
and if she were to step aside it might be that the next president is one that you favor. You might salvage that which many feel is scuttled. You might have another 4 or 8 years of your Robin Hood phase.
Strange Politics.

as an example . . . I have tried to do some introspective things as I come into awareness of my own flaws, and recognize the way I act and correct my self and make a better narrative for myself and for others.
you raise me up from far away when a memory of you lifts me!
Somethings never change nothing need stay the same ah, but on a website the constant change is kind-of the point . . .
change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .
To live within such a realm really isn't possible.

After 40 different versions what can one say about it anymore? It's installed in all my systems, a day earlier. There are a few minor issues, but no show stoppers.
I did some stuff with lvm to resize a root area. That took a very long time. It's on a machine that maybe just should be retired . . .

Ya, I decided to load Fedora Core 38 Beta about a month ago, and this machine kept shutting down . . . I think I finally fixed it. Tomorrow is the big release day for the Fedora Core 38. My production workstation is still running FC37. I don't know if I'll jump right on it right away. . .
my server is still resetting, or maybe I have it fixed. I decided to just remove plasma-desktop, as I don't use it. The journals were giving all kinds of errors with that, and I think that might have been the issue, conflicting with the gdm that I do use. Worst case I'd just go to runlevel 3 but, as I said in another column, I don't really even know if anyone views these pages anyway.
My production box would upgrade but the dnf says it would downgrade grum and associated tools, and that's never a good thing to do. I'm just not going to do it! anyway I'll check tomorrow when the offical release is and probably do it then. If I'm in the mood.
So now I've run every version of Fedora serving this website! that's a long time.
April 17, 2023 8:28 PM ESThere is from a year ago:
It took some time to figure out how to defeat the new screensaver built in, but I was able to. It's the biggest downside to the new Gnome.
I set the keybindings to something I don't use, and then put in a custom keybinding to use the old tool.
There are other minor things that annoy too, like the restoration of a deleted file that I always have to delete again on every FC core upgrade. The file is name camera-shutte.oga. It's in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo

At the precipice of coding.
a mountain trail often has a place with a great view and a perilous fall if you wonder just a bit too far to one side of the trail. It's called a precipice. It's not a scary place. It's a safe place that one passes through.
OK, so I've done an update to FC34.
the biggest issue was . . . . drum roll . . .a lock up of gnome.
and if i clicked on the activities button I would need to reload (log out log back in).
I was able to run stuff without that, and thus determined a list of files that might need to be removed. I did as full reinstall of gnome as such:
dnf reinstall gnome
then I did a
dnf list installed |grep fc33
which gave me a list of files to consider uninstalling.
from that I got the following:
first odd issue:
sudo was not at first working! I had to install it! I kept the configuration file so I have my preferences still set up.
dnf install sudo dnf reinstall gnome-* dnf reinstall kde* dnf reinstall NetworkManager* dnf remove gnome-screensaver dnf remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-20.04.0-2.fc33.noarch dnf remove xorg-x11-xkb-extras-7.7-33.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove compat-openssl10-1:1.0.2o-11.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove mozjs60-60.9.0-7.fc33.x86_64
there are still some fc33 packages, (I also looked for fc32 packages, anything older that was gnome)
sudo dnf list installed |grep fc33 biber.noarch 2.14-4.fc33 @fedora gamin.x86_64 0.1.10-37.fc33 @fedora libgta.x86_64 1.0.9-5.fc33 @fedora
if removing a package also removed large numbers of other packages, I left it. For each of the few that I did remove, I always would make sure by reading what would happen before agreeing to the transaction.
now the gnome-shell is working and it doesn't lock up. So which of the packages that I removed made the difference? I am not sure.
and so after just a few short hours of install, I've got my system working in away that seems normal.
the new gnome shell moves the icons to the bottom of the screen.
I find gnome-shell to be annoyingly poppy at times. I tend to do things rapidly, and all the popping can be nauseating.
It is helpful to learn how to use dnf. I've found that the reverse history stuff works as long as you haven't made too many changes. It's a dicey, though, to try and go back to an older revision but I did it ONCE. Next time it didn't work out so well. AT that point it was installing dnf and yum from rpms.
and I had success. It's the kind of thing that when you know how to do it . . .
but there was one other trick that I needed and it was a scary way to reset a password and I did discover how to do it. I'm not sharing that one (barely remember) it's like these things exist in a nether, and it's best to . . . let the knowledge fade unless you need it. It's too scary to dwell in that space.
anyway, gnome shell is working. It's not flighty and hanging up. And all it took was to remove the old packages of gnome that might conflict with it. And now I can continue with my review.
