how do I even know if anyone even sees these pages? I suppose that's why I stopped updating them

And did he ever even get to that part about 'helmet safety' and that the guy in the photo wasn't wearing one?

Oh, no, yet another topic for the echo factory to pretend that people care about and repeat over and over.

 this is a lot more
             fun
         than wading
         in through the chan spam.

if you don't have proper fonts installed you won't see what this picture shows: the output of the echo command with unicode symbols as input. If you are blind basically the unicode are symbols that you could feel as shapes. If you have a 'font box', which would be like that divice with all the pins in it that you can place your hand inside, and the shape of your hand will appear on the surface. If such a thing locked, it would then let a blind person feel it and they would feel the shape. such a device that does that for font shapes would greatly aid the blind. It would be a 'kind of' high resolution new-braille. Call it a 'sean-box' font reader.

Major Changes here

things just progress sometimes. This is progress. The website now has a login feature. Logging in gives you a different experience. You can still get to the content. It's just not all dumped out at once.

I've been a little bit worried about a clamp down, but I suppose if stuff is going to happen, why not try to speak out, have a voice. I shut myself up because I am worried about censorship but that just gives into them, doesn't it, them being those who like to censor. They don't care what you say as long as you agree with them. As soon as you go against them they send out their hate-squads to tie the noose around your neck. The noose is made of your own words. It's what they are doing the the always brash, but exceptionally fair and lovible Donald, the man, Trump. Remember, if your are playing an honest game trump beats everything. The slogan is for sale to Mr. Trump, if he would like it. But, Mr. Trump, I am in a situation where I need to start to make some cash from my freebee site here. So if you like the slogan, then please pay me a fair price for it.

Donald is being like the Ethal Merman of politics. He's belting out very enjoyable bellacose truth-saying rethoric, not stuff that is acceptible to those who just want to get along. Those who capitulated to a rouge president who has now two more years (1 and a half) to further dismantle what he so chooses, enforce what he so chooses, and ignore what he feels is for his benefit to ignre. The president has gone rouge and the one who is brash and bolt to belt out that Broadway show tune of faithful sword mouthed truth, he is the one who gets lambasted for just feeding back to the comotose capitulators the kind of belacosity that they feed out to the world.

Everyone always knew that McCain was a pretty boy ring-knocking guy who was unfortunatly shot down and made a prisoner. That sucked for him but many, at the time, would say he had it coming for being a bomber piolet. Hey, but it's so 1960's to keep up with that whole line of rethoric. Most soldiers, or air force officers, are really just duty oriented. Mr. McCain? WAsn't he a legacy? And the fact of being captured does not make one heroic. Is it heroic to rot in prison? Well, it's a heroism of soul, in some sense. We look towards that kind of person for inspiration on endurance of oppression. But in the case of someone who we need as a president the ability to endure oppression is not really a quality that we covet. Why? Because a leader, the next president, must be someone who will not endure the oppression. He must not (or she or whatever) endure that oppression, the oppression of the Iranians. The oppression of the ones putting on the stage show war with the name of a country named after a religion. They don't call it the country of that, curious, but just the state of it. THe next president needs to be upset about oppression, but need not be an expert in enduring it. If anything we need someone who is a natural and proven leader who knows how to marshall an organization into effective action, but also knows when, and what, to cut. Walk away when the endevour is no longer fruitful or working, like the Obama phone program. Do you think that if Mr. Trump were president that the government would still be giving the free phones to the 95 % which studies say don't really qualify?

Well, it's sad that Mr. McCain is taking such grand offense. You know, John, if you can't take the heat get out of the fire. John, you lost to a Marxist and now you enable him. At least Mr. Trump doesn't say it like that. If he starts calling Obama a Marxist, what will the press do then?

When morning arrives he's driven too far.
now the all those mountains are behind him.
He wishes it was another day, long time ago,
                       before his heartbreak.

The night is dark, the air, crisp and cold.
 He wishes for a friend.
 While sleeping
 in the seat
 with the moonlight
 he feels it
 coming in
 opening up his gates,
                 everlasting

A song:

Flatbush in the rain
don't you leave my dear mother alone

Daddy's gone, and there aint nothing we can do about it
Daddy's gone, and there aint nothing we can do about it

Trainride to the Jersey Shore.
Red Bank
Fireworks
Summer Showers
They'll probably pass in an hour.

Daddy's gone, off to sing in a show
Daddy's gone, somewhere we don't know.

Jersey Shore
The first time I ever heard about Benjamin Franklin
The long car ride, boardwalk

Slumbering
Slumbering in a hammock

the above song was recorded 4 June evening (or was it Wednesday?)

In Wicked Need of an Edit

Political and Media Inanity

I'm Back. Today I share some fiction, written by Bill. He is letting me put this here but we doctored it up a bit so it's not quite as blunt and accusatory as when he first wrote it. He says it's obvious but he is still worried that clamp could come down on him so he's got this thin fiction about a presidental candidate. He shared it with me and so now I share it with you. Enjoy.

They don't love Darlene

Why don't they love Darlene?

I'm not talking about the Darlene bashers. Of course they don't like her because of her sympathies. She's not a 'nice girl' to them. She's a manipulative . . . well you know the word that so many use to describe her. Oh, how taboo to use that word about her.

But why? I've said before she should own the word. Say she is whatever they say she is. Say ya, she's a [banned word as noun]. And of course she is because the world is so [banned adjective]-up. And when tyranny and oppression arise anyway madame candidate will arise. They will be the ones who will show up banging on the door of whatever sanctuary of corrupt power it happens to be, World Banks? International Monarchy Fund? International Anti Whatever-they-ares, the who-ever-they-are tyrants, of any kind. She will come and have a [banned word] session with the tyrants and she will make it right.

But isn't that just another manifestation of hero mongering and false idol worship? In this case the lust for power is so strong that dame Darlene is unable to realize that she has a slim to none chance to win in any system that is actually for and by the people. Her only chance of winning is by the cooking of it by the various actors who she and her clan have installed. They adore dame Darlene too much, many of us feel (not all of everyone, but enough to know).

If Darlene Bolton becomes the next president, that essentially means that the American Nation no longer exists. Instead we have the jezzebell i-tocracy of nepotistic incompetence, the feminzed aristocracy of bullies from the long ago: their great great grand children of secret privilege finally revealing the nature of their brood. Oh the horror.

It's a vicious story, isn't it? How else could anyone tell it except as fiction? The real truth seems to be just a worst case fringe view of the origins of the current crop of corrupt officals. Those who know the real story won't ever tell, or they only know part of it.

So what about the current corruption? It's best to not be part of it. It's best to be away from it. If you were born of it, shun it. If you were working for it, resign your commission. If you think you can be an infiltrator: the infiltration only goes in one direction. It's your own soul who is infiltrated by their operations of conditional acceptance

side note: I can't call the behaviors of the corrupt evil, but only seemingly evil, if you concoct explanations where evil is part of it, we all know that evil is just how it seems in very many cases. What is seen as evil is the effect of their sinful hatred of not only themselves but the rest of humanity. The politness is demanded from the political realm: politeness that they often won't extend themselves.

statement of possible bombast: That which seems to be 'evil' is a manifestation of the collective narcissism and misunderstanding of human-kind. Male, Female. We aren't supposed to use gender anymore in some dialectics because it 'offends' the inoffensible. They aren't offended by third term - - - ,

the strictures of speach from linquistic imperialists of the Left

But they are offended that we parse up the concepts through the filter of gender. And then they create this concept of 'equality' and then proceed to violate it thoroughly by adhering to their skewed view of human dynamics.

If they weren't so skewed maybe they'd realize how manipulative it is to present someone whose main qualification is just the fact of their gender, a gender, which, by the way, by all accounts, and by the persons own admission, that candidate does reject. So it's not that she's a woman that we reject her candidacy.

: it is because of the fact (fact used in a loose way as a synonym for appearance, constant appearance and observation of her consistent behaviors and ignore the passing laws that she puts out there to the public to mask over the horror of the pagan and narcissistic way that she actually looks at the world around her, the people of the clan, the citizenry out there in the crowd.

Her announcement in a public park

They closed off a public park. They made it into a little miniature police state. It's supposed to be a park dedicated to the four freedoms. They made stamps about it in 1940's with art deco socialist realist designs: so retro Marxists, but in the good sense (as good as it could ever get with that crowd).

But the children of the privilege, who were chosen by their fore-bearers in the long ago to pick up the mantle of their infinity of causes, the most conformist of all, who was taught the inner workings and then used it all against them so she could claw her way up with her man at the top of the heap, a guy who had a seemingly magical effect on women (but we are supposed to ignore gender). And so they all voted for Darlene's husband and he was, in fact, the president. So it was strictly and only because of gender that such a man was able to become president: especially the weakness of shortsighted women about 'their man' and even though the guy was a total philanderer and treated women as objects and toys, and had multiple serial affairs . . . she always and forever makes excuses for him no matter how embarrassing the details. A totally acceptable thing for a woman to do for her man but . . . not against the very stereo types that she claims as hers: feminism. She is neither a feminist nor is she a very nice person due to the fact of the hypocrisy of her behavior. She's had a full life. She's been dear and important. She had her time in the national spotlight with unfettered access.

But she wants that ring of power. She is living with memory of the heroin effects of total power: one ring rules them all she believes and she wants to be the head of that ring. In this case we aren't talking about gold rings anymore: but a ring of collusion consisting, in some part, as tyrants who rule with impunity and decide a generation ahead who will live and die a generation later. As if they are in charge.

And she wants to be in charge of that ring, that ring that deludes to be a 'rulership class'.

And so what do we do? What would someone who loves her do? They might explain to her how it seems to those of us on the outside of it, who are forced to get shoved against it, like the sides of an ever expanding tent. The tent of ever more and more and more for them and they.

Without concern about who gets bowled over, and with no care for who is forced to flea for their lives, or even remember the names of people murdered in the name of the cause: people who she was in charge of. People who they abandoned. We know the names and if we say them out loud or mention the Libyan town we , yes we, are chided with a derisive and called out as if we are some how less and not worth hearing because we dwell on the fact of the spewing of lies that explained all that went down in the Libyan town that night with the curious date. And the excuses of the power that failed to do right by the people. They were dealing and smuggling? They were trying to make a secret shipment?

Oh ya, we don't really know but that alone is enough to say 'no, Darlene, no'

Save your soul, Darlene. Don't take that gold ring even if you can.

Fix your self and the world gets fixed around you

as an example . . . I have tried to do some introspective things as I come into awareness of my own flaws, and recognize the way I act and correct my self and make a better narrative for myself and for others.

you raise me up
from far away
when a memory

Somethings never change
nothing need stay the same
ah, but on a website
the constant change
 is kind-of the point . . .

change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .

To live within such a realm really isn't possible.

Poem Shards

just who reads, who writes these poems?
off a mountain road the poet roams
but only in a poem.

Realizing that the empty
is empty
and not needing anything there.

just who shows up and for what?
I'm lonely or am alone or what does it matter?
driving off towards the nothing
walking along the nowhere path
up high
sure, it's a pretty view
but seen it, done it, jaded, back to the air port
he flew
his fantasy of happy vacation was through.

The deep snow.

The deep snow. She doesn't know how deep. She didn't think about it. Depth of snow no one know in rills and hollows where you shouldn't go when the storm is fierce and the night is cold even you shouldn't be so bold. poem is from 2012 short story titled Blizzard Baby The morning light is hued in cold awareness. Warming in the sun the bunny explores the snow covered lawn. The tracks melt by mid morning. Bunny doesn't know what the song means, anyway. This giant bubble that we call awareness? Coders Edge

served to you by:

Fedora 40

After 40 different versions what can one say about it anymore? It's installed in all my systems, a day earlier. There are a few minor issues, but no show stoppers.

I did some stuff with lvm to resize a root area. That took a very long time. It's on a machine that maybe just should be retired . . .

Fedora Core 38 beta

Ya, I decided to load Fedora Core 38 Beta about a month ago, and this machine kept shutting down . . . I think I finally fixed it. Tomorrow is the big release day for the Fedora Core 38. My production workstation is still running FC37. I don't know if I'll jump right on it right away. . .

my server is still resetting, or maybe I have it fixed. I decided to just remove plasma-desktop, as I don't use it. The journals were giving all kinds of errors with that, and I think that might have been the issue, conflicting with the gdm that I do use. Worst case I'd just go to runlevel 3 but, as I said in another column, I don't really even know if anyone views these pages anyway.

My production box would upgrade but the dnf says it would downgrade grum and associated tools, and that's never a good thing to do. I'm just not going to do it! anyway I'll check tomorrow when the offical release is and probably do it then. If I'm in the mood.

So now I've run every version of Fedora serving this website! that's a long time.

here is from a year ago:

Fedora Core 36 beta

It took some time to figure out how to defeat the new screensaver built in, but I was able to. It's the biggest downside to the new Gnome.

I set the keybindings to something I don't use, and then put in a custom keybinding to use the old tool.

There are other minor things that annoy too, like the restoration of a deleted file that I always have to delete again on every FC core upgrade. The file is name camera-shutte.oga. It's in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo

At the precipice of coding.

a mountain trail often has a place with a great view and a perilous fall if you wonder just a bit too far to one side of the trail. It's called a precipice. It's not a scary place. It's a safe place that one passes through.

OK, so I've done an update to FC34.

the biggest issue was . . . . drum roll . . .a lock up of gnome.

and if i clicked on the activities button I would need to reload (log out log back in).

I was able to run stuff without that, and thus determined a list of files that might need to be removed. I did as full reinstall of gnome as such:

dnf reinstall gnome

then I did a

dnf list installed |grep fc33

which gave me a list of files to consider uninstalling.

from that I got the following:

first odd issue:

sudo was not at first working! I had to install it! I kept the configuration file so I have my preferences still set up.

dnf install sudo dnf reinstall gnome-* dnf reinstall kde* dnf reinstall NetworkManager* dnf remove gnome-screensaver dnf remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-20.04.0-2.fc33.noarch dnf remove xorg-x11-xkb-extras-7.7-33.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove compat-openssl10-1:1.0.2o-11.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove mozjs60-60.9.0-7.fc33.x86_64

there are still some fc33 packages, (I also looked for fc32 packages, anything older that was gnome)

sudo dnf list installed |grep fc33
biber.noarch 2.14-4.fc33 @fedora
gamin.x86_64 0.1.10-37.fc33 @fedora
libgta.x86_64 1.0.9-5.fc33 @fedora

if removing a package also removed large numbers of other packages, I left it. For each of the few that I did remove, I always would make sure by reading what would happen before agreeing to the transaction.

now the gnome-shell is working and it doesn't lock up. So which of the packages that I removed made the difference? I am not sure.

and so after just a few short hours of install, I've got my system working in away that seems normal.

the new gnome shell moves the icons to the bottom of the screen.

I find gnome-shell to be annoyingly poppy at times. I tend to do things rapidly, and all the popping can be nauseating.

It is helpful to learn how to use dnf. I've found that the reverse history stuff works as long as you haven't made too many changes. It's a dicey, though, to try and go back to an older revision but I did it ONCE. Next time it didn't work out so well. AT that point it was installing dnf and yum from rpms.

and I had success. It's the kind of thing that when you know how to do it . . .

but there was one other trick that I needed and it was a scary way to reset a password and I did discover how to do it. I'm not sharing that one (barely remember) it's like these things exist in a nether, and it's best to . . . let the knowledge fade unless you need it. It's too scary to dwell in that space.

anyway, gnome shell is working. It's not flighty and hanging up. And all it took was to remove the old packages of gnome that might conflict with it. And now I can continue with my review.
