And did he ever even get to that part about 'helmet safety' and that the guy in the photo wasn't wearing one?
Oh, no, yet another topic for the echo factory to pretend that people care about and repeat over and over.
this is a lot more fun than wading in through the chan spam.

He spent his morning inside the great big broken heart of a mourning dove. There were trees there on that lawn and from his bed, he watches, through the window, a lonely dove who lost his mate mourning with sadness, forlorn. dispaired. And then up drives a great big Sedan Delivery and it's back doors open, wide. Out flies the dove's mate which had been accidentally trapped by the delivery men. They brought it back as soon as they discovered it, like a blessing, in good spirits, when they saw it in the back. They waved, cheery, as they sped off, a screach like they were not wanting to be late to their next appointment. The reunited fly off towards some unknown place, no longer a lonely place apart. "Was that those delivery boys, why did they come back here?" That pigeon could find it's own way home. It wasn't a pigeon but a Morning Dove. I thought you said it was a mourning dove? The dove was mourning all morning until the doors of the van were opened. The doors of the van? They would have let it out of the back of the delivery van as soon as they found it in their and it would have found it's own way home. Home is with it's mate. It makes a better poem if they bring it back and the guy in his sick bed gets to see it fly away. So you gotta tell that part, why it's so good for him, this unlikely event for him to see it. He rises out of his bed and here is what he said lookit, ma, they came back because they forget to let the pigeon out of the back of the van. It's not a van, its a sedan. You're poet characters name is stan. I much prefer the name 'Dan'. when a poem devolves sometimes the poet doesn't hit delete it takes work to mark the text and hit a key better to let the brain wonderings just be recorded you can delete them later or not. 🌃🌍🌑 🌃🌍🌒 🌃🌍🌓 🌃🌍🌔 🌃🌍🌕 🌃🌍🌖 🌃🌍🌗 🌃🌍🌘 🌃🌍🌙 🌃🌍🌚 🌃🌎🌑 🌃🌎🌒 🌃🌎🌓 🌃🌎🌔 🌃🌎🌕 🌃🌎🌖 🌃🌎🌗 🌃🌎🌘 🌃🌎🌙 🌃🌎🌚 🌃🌏🌑 🌃🌏🌒 🌃🌏🌓 🌃🌏🌔 🌃🌏🌕 🌃🌏🌖 🌃🌍🌑 🌃🌍🌒 🌃🌍🌓 🌃🌍🌔 🌃🌍🌕 🌃🌍🌖 🌃🌍🌗 🌃🌍🌘 🌃🌍🌙 🌃🌏🌗 🌃🌏🌘 🌃🌏🌙 🌃🌏🌚 🌄🌍🌑 🌄🌍🌒 🌄🌍🌓 🌄🌍🌔 🌄🌍🌕 🌄🌍🌖 🌄🌍🌗 🌄🌍🌘 🌄🌍🌙 🌄🌍🌚 🌄🌎🌑 🌄🌎🌒 🌄🌎🌓 🌄🌎🌔 🌄🌎🌕 🌄🌎🌖 🌄🌎🌗 🌄🌎🌘 🌄🌎🌙 🌄🌎🌚 🌄🌏🌑 🌄🌏🌒 🌄🌏🌓 🌄🌏🌔 🌄🌏🌕 🌄🌏🌖 🌄🌏🌗 🌄🌏🌘 🌄🌏🌙 🌄🌏🌚 🌅🌍🌑 🌅🌍🌒 🌅🌍🌓 🌅🌍🌔 🌅🌍🌕 🌅🌍🌖 🌅🌍🌗 🌅🌍🌘 🌅🌍🌙 🌅🌍🌚 🌅🌎🌑 🌅🌎🌒 🌅🌎🌓 🌅🌎🌔 🌅🌎🌕 🌅🌎🌖 🌅🌎🌗 🌅🌎🌘 🌅🌎🌙 🌅🌎🌚 🌅🌏🌑 🌅🌏🌒 🌅🌏🌓 🌅🌏🌔 🌅🌏🌕 🌅🌏🌖 🌅🌏🌗 🌅🌏🌘 🌅🌏🌙 🌅🌏

Today is Martin Luther King's birthday. I always remember because it was the same day that . . . well that doesn't matter. Before his birthday was an official day off for the federal crowd, it used to just be another day. And most people might not have known that it was Reverend King's birthday. I think that I did know. Not becuase it was political doctrine, a necessary knowledge, like some might feel, for 'fellowship' which will always be seen as faux by some people (the sensitive). You can't fake a sense of love for Black people, or for any people. So, if you know something about a day, or a time of year, it's not that you do it to 'stand with' some imagined group (in your mind) that isn't quite configured like the real people who live amoung you, it's an 'idea' of the black person.
I can remember walking with friends as a kid when the discussion turned to Black people and to Jewish people. Would it surprise anyone to know that some of the kids parents, or relatives, had told them some things? Were people different based on religion and race? Well, of course there are some obvious differences. But we were rightfully (and sometimes self-rightously) taught that it doesn't matter about all the bullchit. Everyone is equal. But what does that really mean?
Clearly the evidence wasn't there that the idea of equality was something that made sense as a metric because even though some are given a lot, their kin still aren't able to climb out of the hole. I noticed that some of the kids who I knew who were Black got much greater help. But then, if you followed the news, again, some of their kin didn't make it out of High School.
And now it's news about a famous guy who used to punch people out just for the fu_k-of-it. Obviously he was out of his mind and not right. He got better. There was a lot of that back then, scary people. They didn't just go after Blacks.
For the most part that generation didn't descriminate in Massachusetts as badly as they did in other places. Massachusetts was always an Abolitionists haven, and very friendly for Black people, People of Color, if they just knew where to go. And, of course, there was a lot of that old BS class crap about 'colored' people. Or here is one that I remember: "West Roxbury is not Roxbury"
So a lot of the kids of color didn't do so well if they couldn't get into college, didn't get the help of the affirmative action, were sucked into the jails and . . . I don't really know their stories. We used to hear about a lot of violence. But the people that scared them the most were the crackers who were drugged up and on a hateful tare. Yes, when crackhead idiots start looking to blame someone, some group, for all their problems, when they go off ahunting for a victim . . . who do they go after? So if you were a slight man of color, and living in the city, it's a short walk across town for a 17 year old juvvie with a bad head-of-rage. He sees you and . . . well I don't really know these stories. That wasn't me. I've heard of these things. And no one who was a 17 yearold drug-headed raga-holic, who was probably really mad about other things, if that person were still active, and working, today, they would, let us say, of course, they would have a lot of regret.
Let's hope that they will have a lot of regret if they were like that. Real people make bad mistakes and there is no explaining it. They were damaged and now they have undamaged themselves by making ammends, what more can we do?
After they've paid their debt by being in the system, going through all of the necessary steps of making ammends, mitigating for whatever damage that they may have caused, asking for forgivness from their victims, what more can society do?
And when that something more that we can do has not happened, because the person has reformed themself, it's better to let it all be forgotten. 30 years pass. A man doesn't make the same mistakes. We do have redemption of spirit. People do grow up.
But not all people. Some of us didn't make it out of High School.
So if you look at demographics, you can see these, what they call, trends. And on a day like Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, a lot of people look for news about the successes and failures of the causes that Mr. King espoused. Non-violence as a way of thought, not just as an activity, is a necessary step in forgiving one's self, for the failures of not doing enough, and other people, for not doing anything. And others who never accept that some have always been on board the soul train, where there are not 'in the back' seats, unless you like being there.
So we've always been on the same train. We never wanted to not be on that train. We never felt any fear of the other people on the train or, if we did, it was mitigated respectfully. (I ued the wrd 'mitigate' too much already). We have been fellow riders and we didn't see 'race' or 'black' except that we knew that it was always an unspoken . . . consideration for other people.
And then, having been taught that one never, ever, not ever, neer, ere not ever, uses the taboo word of hatful racism. Most people wouldn't use that word. And hen you go to college and you meet someone who explains to you drunkenly tht its a word that people use and they use it only on the people who really are . . . Like we are supposed to get it tht it's OK to use a word that makes people shake in fear and imagine that the worst thing that could happen will, and immediately, because there is some cracker-ass idiot enraged bigot ready to cut you to pieces because of the color of your skin? because that is what the word means: it made a lot of people shake in fear.
So we didn't use the word.
And I never accepted anyones explanations because I knew what it did to people who I knew, how it affected them.
And so, it's Martin Luther King Jr's birthday today. He made extreme sacrifices for all of us. Today he is 86. They'd be bringing him cake. They'd be singing for him. He'd be a guest on talk shows constantly. Maybe he would be an expresident, instead of Jimmy Carter we could have had him. Or instead of George Bush.
Ya, so, we can't rewrite History. We can imagine if. But it doesn't really help. So, instead, we try and respect his legacy, which means trying to level out the injustice pot-holes that seem to be there for some. Racism is a lot worse than a pothole. But I would rather think of other things than that, if possible. So, Reverend King, you are gone now almost 50 years. See how it's all changed in the meantime. See how the world has changed.
What would you tell us? What would you tell us today? About the news, the world events? What advice would you be giving? I will not pretend to speak for him.
And so God blessed us with the Reverend King, and Reverend King got to go off to Glory, in the end, horror. God Blessed us with him and then he was taken away. We shouldn't pretend to speak for him. Speak for ourselves using the insight that he gave us, with his courage as a model. We can only do that, really. So today we remember someone who had more to give, more to do, much more to say.

Praise The Lord for insight given!
as an example . . . I have tried to do some introspective things as I come into awareness of my own flaws, and recognize the way I act and correct my self and make a better narrative for myself and for others.
you raise me up from far away when a memory of you lifts me!
Somethings never change nothing need stay the same ah, but on a website the constant change is kind-of the point . . .
change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .
To live within such a realm really isn't possible.

Ya, I decided to load Fedora Core 38 Beta about a month ago, and this machine kept shutting down . . . I think I finally fixed it. Tomorrow is the big release day for the Fedora Core 38. My production workstation is still running FC37. I don't know if I'll jump right on it right away. . .
my server is still resetting, or maybe I have it fixed. I decided to just remove plasma-desktop, as I don't use it. The journals were giving all kinds of errors with that, and I think that might have been the issue, conflicting with the gdm that I do use. Worst case I'd just go to runlevel 3 but, as I said in another column, I don't really even know if anyone views these pages anyway.
My production box would upgrade but the dnf says it would downgrade grum and associated tools, and that's never a good thing to do. I'm just not going to do it! anyway I'll check tomorrow when the offical release is and probably do it then. If I'm in the mood.
So now I've run every version of Fedora serving this website! that's a long time.
April 17, 2023 8:28 PM ESThere is from a year ago:
It took some time to figure out how to defeat the new screensaver built in, but I was able to. It's the biggest downside to the new Gnome.
I set the keybindings to something I don't use, and then put in a custom keybinding to use the old tool.
There are other minor things that annoy too, like the restoration of a deleted file that I always have to delete again on every FC core upgrade. The file is name camera-shutte.oga. It's in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo

At the precipice of coding.
a mountain trail often has a place with a great view and a perilous fall if you wonder just a bit too far to one side of the trail. It's called a precipice. It's not a scary place. It's a safe place that one passes through.
OK, so I've done an update to FC34.
the biggest issue was . . . . drum roll . . .a lock up of gnome.
and if i clicked on the activities button I would need to reload (log out log back in).
I was able to run stuff without that, and thus determined a list of files that might need to be removed. I did as full reinstall of gnome as such:
dnf reinstall gnome
then I did a
dnf list installed |grep fc33
which gave me a list of files to consider uninstalling.
from that I got the following:
first odd issue:
sudo was not at first working! I had to install it! I kept the configuration file so I have my preferences still set up.
dnf install sudo dnf reinstall gnome-* dnf reinstall kde* dnf reinstall NetworkManager* dnf remove gnome-screensaver dnf remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-20.04.0-2.fc33.noarch dnf remove xorg-x11-xkb-extras-7.7-33.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove compat-openssl10-1:1.0.2o-11.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove mozjs60-60.9.0-7.fc33.x86_64
there are still some fc33 packages, (I also looked for fc32 packages, anything older that was gnome)
sudo dnf list installed |grep fc33 biber.noarch 2.14-4.fc33 @fedora gamin.x86_64 0.1.10-37.fc33 @fedora libgta.x86_64 1.0.9-5.fc33 @fedora
if removing a package also removed large numbers of other packages, I left it. For each of the few that I did remove, I always would make sure by reading what would happen before agreeing to the transaction.
now the gnome-shell is working and it doesn't lock up. So which of the packages that I removed made the difference? I am not sure.
and so after just a few short hours of install, I've got my system working in away that seems normal.
the new gnome shell moves the icons to the bottom of the screen.
I find gnome-shell to be annoyingly poppy at times. I tend to do things rapidly, and all the popping can be nauseating.
It is helpful to learn how to use dnf. I've found that the reverse history stuff works as long as you haven't made too many changes. It's a dicey, though, to try and go back to an older revision but I did it ONCE. Next time it didn't work out so well. AT that point it was installing dnf and yum from rpms.
and I had success. It's the kind of thing that when you know how to do it . . .
but there was one other trick that I needed and it was a scary way to reset a password and I did discover how to do it. I'm not sharing that one (barely remember) it's like these things exist in a nether, and it's best to . . . let the knowledge fade unless you need it. It's too scary to dwell in that space.
anyway, gnome shell is working. It's not flighty and hanging up. And all it took was to remove the old packages of gnome that might conflict with it. And now I can continue with my review.
