Big pretty moon in the sky last night with clouds billowing. I went out and took some photographs.

When photographing The Moon, as it is very bright in relationship to the rest of the picture, one must take special care with the settings. Using a tripod is helpful. This picture was without a tripod, so I choose a very fast shutter speed. The picture is also transformed after, cropped, resized, and then the color curves were modified.

My town has a pretty lake with easy access. It's a good place to collect the light of the sky and lake. I like going over there for a photo-walk. Here is a photo from the other day:

Yes, there is a certain accidental quality to doing a set of transformations on an image. The transformation that works for one image might not work for a different one. But when an image is of a set, say pictures of the same thing, photos taken with similar lighting conditions, at almost the same time, then if the transformation works for one, then it probably will work for many.

When I say 'does the transfromation work' but what I mean is 'does it make an interesting image'. Well, that is of course, subjective. There are so many things to consider about transformations and what they reveal. Details that the naked eye doesn't readily discern often pop out from a transformation. One can create masks for the image and then make even more coplex images from that by doing layering with masks and partial images.

Automating this makes it even easier, and mask creation lickity split. There is a wide and vast field ripe for planting in these endevours both for art and for surveylance.

Some of the transformations can give the buildings in the photograph a 'Mars Hotel' quality. Mars Hotel is the name of a record album from a band from the 1970's. They were very famous and important for the not-60's generation. Their music and art was very well enjoyed and fully appreciated in their day by throngs (yes, throngs). Back then there would be giant street festivals of young people about a City venue, on the street, on the side streets, up and down the avenue. And it was all kept cool. It was not quite as ritualized as Bread-n-Puppet (from Glover VT) nor was it as wild as Burning Man (a West Coast thing). The travelling road show that was the Greatful Dead did make waves in people's lives. That band would show up for two or three days, say, in Providence R.I. and the freak flag would be waving from the railings of the parking garage. Transformative dancing and revelry into the wee hours. And the cops, after a time, got to understand that most of these folks were not wanting to be trouble-makers. All in all it didn't suck.

These images are also useful for other purposes too which ought to be obvious to anyone who has studied data arrays and the information that can be available in pictures. Anyone who knows about binary code could come up with some kind of algorithmatic parsing up of the image to allow for transmission of the bit outside the normal channel, like a boat, on a river, that you see floating down and you notice something about it. Something strange and then . . . kaboom. More on that down the page. In the meantime, here is a closeup of a building from one of the other pictures:

Can you say 'datagram', ma'am? It's poetic because it rhymes. In any case, interesting effects. A building could be used as a datagram. If you could control all of the lights of the building you could use the building, itself, as a data-frame. Pretty cool.

She was listening to a half-hour long infomercial 
about the amazing hoverboo technology of platform-drones.

this was the show on after the show she was watching,
which she fell asleep during:

 Extra terrestrials

if only she had gotten the amazing new
hoverboo chair. When she fell asleep
it would have floated her over to her bed and
rolled her over onto it
so she'd not have lay in the hoverboo alnight long.
Or
she'd be half way to the Santa Monica pier by now
because the hoverboo would have gone off on a manic
episode, it having got the I'm-human-giggles chip
that 'makes them human'.
The hoverboo chair had fallen in lvoe with her.
And even though she'd gone off to dance in the sky
on the hoverboo balastrade, the chair had followed
her there.
"Silly" she said
"I can't dance with a chair."

The chair got very jealous then
of the tall dark stranger
(from an old song) 
who was dancing with his one love.

At this point the story is lost because
someone had added in some parts that were
luid and not funny to the old editor so he had cut it off.

him humming a hymn
look, it's him.

and when he is later 
in front of the congregation
no hemming or hawing
or gack-jawing
or words made up on a whim. 
by the time he's playing it
he's already created it
it's performed with percision.
though written on a whim
it's perfect.

no slacking or lacking or way out back napping
when it's time to get up in front and play his songs
it's the power of love
that propels him along.

with him

incite romance

to dance at the ball
in the community hall
with great joy that comes to a brim
when band is jamming
the drummer slamming
a rhythm he enjoys from within
he's sharing it with the bopping crowd
they music is well amplified but not too loud
The music of the dance has a positive effect
on loving romance
the love that grows from within
the crowd that he wants to be in
the choirs of Heaven begin
he'd be the first to blend in
humming a hymn with him.
