    they give you back what you make.
 they hand it right back to you.

  So if you are out there

 and ability to monitor the contracting
   of all that gets done you won't
   have any way of knowing that the thing

    made up.

Political and Media Inanity

Why does the media spend so much effort on topics that ought to be of less concern, and then no time hardly on topics that should be of great concern? Or are of great concern.

Mr. Kennedy didn't go to Gettysburg, Mr. Obama didn't either. The symbolism is most surely not lost on the writers, orators, and forward to the public people who are in charge of keeping people on the rail of the message.

As far as speaches go, the Gettysburg one was a good one as rated by very many people. I, for one, have not studied it in detail but did read through a critique of the speach recently in an old book on rethoric and speach writing. Other people go into detail about what Lincoln meant, the stir that the speach caused. I suppose I could go and find the book and reference it here.

And as for jokes about Lincoln, and that coupled with my animated artwork here (my shaking or flipping Lincoln's) I could have the speach misquoted as "fore score", when it is "four score". I could have the animated Lincoln (actually a photo of a famous statue) say, in a blib "Fore score." the crowd murmers. A golf ball suddenly comes careening out of another image on the page, an image of a golfer. The golfer swings, hits the ball, the ball animates into a highres image of a golf ball. The president (mr Lincoln) gets pinged. He's a statue, so it's OK.

And then Mr. Lincoln (the statue head) says "Four score"

OK, needs work, as a joke. Maybe if we had the animation for this? we don't have any pictures of people golfing. I could take some pictures of golf balls. We could make a drawing of someone golfing.

Golf, it's one of those things, a game that, when you play it it tells the world volumes about you, where you come from, how you view the world. The previous sentense is a poor example of political comentary and actually says nothing about anyone because it could have just as easily been written as follows: [Any sport], it's one of those things, a game that, when you play it it tells the world volumes about you, where you come from, how you view the world.

No matter what happens, no matter what rules get changed, traditions broken, there are other traditions. When things don't work anymore, and someone needs to get back home, to be with the people who one cares about, one finds a way. One is helped on that road. It's not a right. It's not a privledge. It's a hussle. It's a competence. It's calling being alive. We survive despite the obsticles that get put in our way.

Politics is a dirty business. The way that the people get their business done isn't always legal. And creatures of the mirky muddy aren't really reptiles, and may be quite lovable. The world view of Washington is a world view of Selfishness. But governments are run by the selfish, yelling "me me, vote for me". There really isn't anything we can do about it. They make the rules what they want them to be and the do what they want. (and most of them aren't even from Vermont)

Ah, but I'm off into the inane, lost on the outside of relevance. Yes, ineffectual. isn't that the way it's best? make no wake.

well, I suppose that 'ineffectual', if it is indeed a word, is quite a pejorative. If so then I suppose that it's better for me to use a different word.

how about 'not fussy'. Off into the inane, lost outside of the relevance of fussy people, not myself making any fuss at all. What a crock that is too.

It seems to me that the things that people commemorate tells you a lot about them. So what do we have today? A fifty year vigil?

I'm not putting any words in Mr. Lincolns mouth.

I've suggested having beams coming from Lincolns eyes to highlight words, and perhaps to create a dissolve. But I'm sure that I saw that first in the original Godzilla only it was Godzilla and not Mr. Lincoln who had beams coming out of his eyes. If I provided that effect here I just be ripping off a classic. Well, I guess that is what all artists do so what am I waiting for? Oh, ya, I'm more of an engineer than an artist. Why can't someone be both? Why can't some people stop talking about themselves?
