Poem Shards

aug 1
 midnight
 and the moon
 terse

 heat
 on your shirt
 the back of your neck
in the breeze from a fan.

 terse
 your smile
 the far away isled that
glisten within the cool midnight breezes
 hither,
 thiter
 ever wandering goes the flow.

 The Kings of old
might have taken down their kingdoms
 and tried to steal away
 from their noble obligations
and the constant carryings on of the
carrying on (those who were carrying on).

 Of those very many midnight
 secret
dancing moon forest knoll and gorge
or river bend, a safe and cool swiming spot.

The moon up through the water full
 this midnight
 with your
 terse
 embrace
as you rap me in a dry towel
after I've pulled myself up onto the dock.
 I
 do not shiver nor think
much of what you have done it's
 later.
 You're gone now
 forever
or whatever.

I lapse
into a terse
regret
the moon
tells me what it used to say to me
glisten the railings, the
slate roof, the fence and the driveway
midnight
after too much driving
gabbing relatives in a tizzy of
remembering
and recollecting through descriptions
of words
of things that they used to do.
None of it gets done anymore
only the memory
of what might have been said,
words that could have been spoken
when all were welcome
some never came, you
look at me blankly
like you had no words for me I see
you and you can't recollect this Saturday
not ever
we were lonly
it wasn't because of you
there was an anger
it was never spoken or expressed
I went on with it.
I don't understand any of it
some of this is needing to die when we do
so far future time let us hope.
