The Right Column
It seemed
that it would
always be such
her having either
chicken steak or fish
every night
and more than 
you can eat and 
corn and peas
and buttery
potatos

But she said
she couldn't
abide and that
there were other
people coming
and she would
be needing the
chairs so
can I carry them
up from the 
basement
and then
leave.

Maybe I said
something
mean but
thought to
say it but
didn't
really say it.

I saw here
for the first
time in a long
while and
she'd taken off
some of the
weight that
she'd put on
but not nearly
engouh her doctor
said she told me
and on and on
yackty yack and
all this time she
didn't like me
that she told me
before but
something must
have changed
because now she
was acting like
we were best
friends.

I restrained myself
from expressing my
feelings knowing
that she'd judge me
for them if I showed
them to her.

Then, after a while
I was able to
break away and
go and pay for
my groceries,
a small steak 
and some chicken
breasts that
will last me
three weeks
if I dice it all
up and make rice
and beans.
