The Right Column

waiting for the rain

Bulbs and seedlings.

I've learned from years past not to over-do the planting in the Springtime. This year I was thinking 'maybe get 9 cubic yards of fill and raise up the yard in some spots for a bunch of different reasons.

But less is more. If the season is dry it won't be good to seed. I don't want to spend the money on water. (we aren't in a dire situation here, like they are in California).

privacy in the high-definition age

Well, the drought is an interesting topic. But other interesting topic: privacy. So I'm reading a green-zone shaming article about celebrities in Los Angeles (Hollywood) and around there, where they are having a rather serious drought. And there are pictures of the back yards of very famous people who some take too much time to think about. So I'm like 'whatever, let's see it'. And suddenly I'm on this gigantic full sized image of the back of a famous celebrity's house, like I'm flying over head and you can see all the plants and everything that is there. It seemed a little bit wrong, so I closed it right away. As much as I admire her (for a bunch of reasons, many guys my age think she's cool), and it would be cool to see her gardens, for real, if I were invited there (which is a fantasy that guys have, even gay ones, to be friendly enough with someone awesome like she is, to be able to see her gardens up close.). but those pictures have, what I will call, stalker-clarity. They seem a violation of her necessary privacy. She needs that privacy just as we all do. No one should be staring that closely into someone's yard without them knowing about it, dwelling and lingering on the thought and concept of some total stranger: envy? lust? what? why do you need to see it?

one thing that could be provided would be a function that if someone set up a stalker honey pot at a mag or somewhere. They would show these wicked closeups of places and say 'these are the star's homes'. Then if some one went and clicked there, and dwelt in it, and kept looking at the pictures then they would be flagged as a stalker by some secreteeeettee processes (very scary) and the 'stars' who are alleged to be at those houses (the pictures wouldn't really be of the star's house) would be warned that 'such and such IP address is connected with someone obsessed with photos of stars houses'.

But what good would that do? Wouldn't it just feed the flames of envy or lust? Ya, honey pot is a bad thing as far as I am concerned but . . . it probably isn't illegal. And if it's for the purposes of litigation, if they can use this in a court to show that someone has gone coocoo and needs to be reined in for the protection of someone else, I'm all for that (but keep it kind)

But its one thing to be an admirer who maybe doesn't understand that he's (she's) crossed a boundary (even transgenders, of non determined sexuality can also cross boundaries). It's another to go and be a problem for someone. So called 'stars' are real people and they do deserve their privacy. Imagine if it were your backyard in that much detail at a public site with full access to the world, where you can almost see inside the house, and if there were someone there you'd see them clearly. It was a very high definition photograph. The page had links to these for about 6 different high-profile LA celebrities. It's not OK.

It's not OK for that website to violate the privacy of these high-profile people with such detailed images of their private yards.

I went back to the lake yesterday (Lake Cochituate). This tree has an aura of pastel colored buds, or maybe tiny leaves. I took some images of it and I'll think about posting them. LOL"

Here is Brian: Mr. Brian Wilson, Oct 2014. This image is of him seated at his piano during a recent show. The image around his as been modified with visual effects to give it a more surreal flavor, to make it almost neon, or electric. The part where Mr. Wilson is, was cropped, and his image was provided in a format that didn't use the same effects as his surroundings. The part of this image that is of Brian is not modified with visual effects. Image provided as a news photo for fans of the man. phone frame at a show © 2015 copyright © Copyright © 2015
