She lost her . . . 
to a . . . 
at a . . .
in the rain.

she was naked
it was cold
the sky grew darker
she felt alone
within the crowd.

"To be effective
to change things"
she thought
"I'll become mean
lie and cheat
to get my way
and make the people
do what I say.
not that what I do
is going to make any difference
to anyone at all
or make anything better
for anything it's just that
I want to be 
in control"

She lost her emails
she lost her sense of decorum
she lost her . . .
she lost her integrity.

she didn't think it like that
with words
as if it was a statement
of how she would now be corrupt
and do the bad things for the
cause of her and hers it
didn't matter what they told her.
She clawed her way up the rung of
what she deluded was success.

She lost her soul?

Suddenly she smiles.
she can have it all back.
All she has to do is tell the truth
maybe cop a plea
maybe spend some time at a country club
for the well connected
billed as a jail.

She lost her . . .
at the beach
drunk and in the dark.
it was raining.
She, after that
always wanted to be in control.
It should always go her way.
She would be the only law that mattered
to her.

 I had a song
while I was laying down
and thinking thinking
I've got so many songs
some of them 
make me happy
when I think of them
then 
if I become obsessed
I may choose not to
listen anymore
but my mind still repeats that tune
over and over
never stopping
so I try to make it into a mantra
that says
Praise God
in it's intent
so that everyone is loving everyone
in that kind of genre
and life is a great big party
where we all get along
like a solstice
