The Left Column

   Emerald
     Cut

jewels of the
 lush forest

I found a gem
in the forest,
uncut, an
emerald
necklace
 (just
a methaphor
for expensive
things?)

It had an
emerald cut.

It was green
and glowed
like it had
batteries
which
made you
feel all alive
like it was
magic, it was
so big,
as big as the
forests of
Ardour
in a dream
it was all in
there
instead of just
being a stone
that fell out
of Mrs. Aster's
       necklace.

Was it jade or
emerald? It
shined like the
reflection of
sunlit leaves
transposed against
a dark
vernal pond,
black leaves
below the water
set back like
a setting for
the stone.

And I wanted to keep it.
But I kind of know
someone would
       be looking
         for this stone.

So I brought it to
   the lost now found.
