lighten up and come back down you don't have to climb Everest to find God.
Glen Beck is upset that Ted Cruz (Ted the Texas ex candidate for the republican nomination) is backing the party's nominee, as candidates for a party's nomination usually do. Breitbart reports Glen as saying that "Maybe it is time to go to the mountains for a while."
Yes, Glen! You go. Clear out your head. West Virginia? Maybe Vermont. If you want to really flip out, and I've never been there, go to Mount Washington in New Hampshire. You can take a train to the top of it where the wicked winds do sometimes howl. Have a few days.
Drive from North Conway, New Hampshire all the way to Lake Placid, Via Crown Point, cross back over in North Hero. Go see Bernie's new camp (I hear that it's ant invested hovel, perfect for Summer nights, and really a run down wreak of a camp, and maybe Bernie paid too much for it . . . rumors, all of this.)
In any case, you can then go spend a day or two in Burlington Vermont. I recommend taking a long walk along the bike path from South Hero all the way to where the ferry boat is. It's a very pretty spot. And you can see mountains all around. The bike path follows an old railroad bed. It's only maybe 50 feet wide, with lake on both sides, made mostly of quarry stones that were sent down on railroad flat cars and then, when the got to the end the big stones were just let to tumble into the lake, until the whole thing was built. That's just another rumor, I don't know the actual methodology of how that causeway got constructed.
On the bike path the lake will be on both sides of you. You can take a mournful walk in the late glow of dusk and ruminate on what could have been, or thinking about those who may have once been local to there, you might have seen them around once, and they are now gone . . .
So enjoy this world that God put us in together, and yes: go to the mountains. You can go to Mount Mansfield, which you'll be able to see from that bike path that crosses the lake (in South Hero). Either go to Underhill state park, camp for the night, and climb Mount Mansfield in the morning (or stay at a local bed and breakfast, or pretty much anywhere in Burlington/Stow, Champlain Valley, and on the Underhill side you can hike to the top of the mountain. OR. go to Stow and pay to drive up the mountain road. You'll need to know how to handle mountain driving, so you don't blow out your transmission. If your rig isn't up for it, I don't recommend taking that long, twisted and steep road to the top of Mansfield. Once you do get to the top on the road you have to walk another half mile or so along the crest of the mountain until you get the very highest place in Vermont, the top of Mount Mansfield which is 4393 feet above sea level. In Vermont that's very high. Ease of access makes this a fun destination. During foliage time the views are spectacular. Well . . . you just have to go and see it.
After that maybe go have a good meal somewhere. Or if you are in Underhill, with a tent at the mountain side park (it's half way up the mountain, and very chilly in the autumn wind, I imagine), you can eat camp food while you contemplate life, in the twilight, with the tent zipper shut. You'll be able to hear the night bugs. There are spirits up there, it seems, with all the chatter. Or maybe it's just the Black Bears that also prowl through on occasion. It's a beautiful park.
Another way up the mountain is on a lift at Stow. I don't know the details of that.
What else to do in New England in the Autumn? There is a Brian Wilson concert at a venue in Connecticut that is, I believe the 29th. I've thought of going, myself. I believe that there are still tickets. Or, if you are in Philadelphia tonight, you can go to Upper Darby and see if you can scalp a ticket to Brian's show tonight, Glen. I've trolled the tickets for this show all week, wishing I'd be heading in that direction, but it seems like a car ride too far. But not for you, media mogul that you are. You ought to be able to just jet in and see him.
Or go to some kind of find park. You know I said West Virginia, but you could just as easily find mountains in Kentucky or Tennessee. I've heard that Dollywood is a fun place, and it must be beautiful with the foliage. And the Smokey Mountain National Forest is right near there, too. With giant platforms on the mountainside just for the fun of it (fun?, really wanted to use a different word) and to spend whatever budget was promised. So, ya, head to the mountains, Glen. Go and sit on a knoll overlooking the world and contemplate our temporary nature, the cold winds that blow through the mountain gaps, all the people and creatures, ages gone on, gone to ground, that passed through, and the reason that we mostly like to live in houses, in a community, near water, in a valley, out of the wind, away from the giant cliffs and falling bolders, and icy cisterns that drop off to nowhere. I'm imagining Yosemite. And, Glen, if you love Mountains, how much grander can you get than the High Sierra! What a treat it is to have it so accessible.
But mountains really can be dangerous. Rock slides often end up in the news as the cause of . . . a sad demise. In California there are roads left open that would be closed in New England if the same things were happening. Boulders roll off the snowy mountain, a steep embankment that looms above the highway, and these end up as debris in the roadway. The signs there say 'no stopping, for any reason.' It's a dangerous place with boulders tumbling onto the road all the time during the snow and ice season. (I think the specific road is California 89).
So, Glen, do be careful.
But, ya, mountains. They are awesome. You'll have two good weeks. But after all of it, unless you've let yourself grow, the newness of it all will wear off and you'll still have to deal with being yourself and understanding that the world isn't magically controlled by your desires, and running a media empire, based upon journalistic integrity, doesn't work that well if you let your fancy of the moment rule you, and act 'non conformist', with colored puff snacks, and everyone just wonders
'what has gone wrong with Glen?'
The world is a forgiving place if you let forgives roll in at it's own pace, like the end of a drought. If you are disappointed about anything 'going to the mountains' is seen (Emmett Fox) as being a metaphor for turning inward and being introspective: you go to that holy mountain. And that can happen anywhere, doesn't matter what the elevation is.
Also, Glen, maybe that kind of holy introspection is a thoroughly private trip, best done with out braggadocio, or saying 'oh, let me drag you along to my holy understanding'. Such behavior is what can be called 'spiritual materialism', where the material isn't 'stuff', or matter, but the material is spiritual knowledge, or some habit or ritual. The basic construct of such a thing is 'i know this secret knowledge and thus I am better than you.' Ridiculous. When the supremicism of 'better than' arises as a justification of belief, one might do better to purge it. The idea of supremiscism ought to trigger (neighh!, I'm quoting a horse) a reassessment of one's own motivations, and in a totally private way, and without any external display, inciteful knowledge will be gleaned from the situation, bringing into conscious thought things that would motivate you unconsciously.
But such triggers ought never be shown to others as having this ability to make you do a sudden an introspective spiritual reacessment of current motivation. And if one were to bring such introspection into a curiculuum, and make it part of a public indoctrination process, one basically abuses the psyches of young flower-child-motivated college young lambs, and starts them off fighting, and sets up a coy-fish fight kind of environment where one group of so-called justice warriors goes off against another group, mongering for some other cause. They don't even know it. They think it's righteous.
Trigger word at a public display is like a display of hypnosis. It's not a trivial thing to be let one self be hypnotized. Even worse to be publicly trigger so as to make a display of you for the amusement of Marxists. (I'm making up a story, partly).
Everyone could possibly be triggered. Very few would do that to someone in a public situation for political purposes, which is what the 'trigger word' fad on some campases seems to do.
Put all your troubles in an old gray sack and smile . . . smile . . . smile.
And so I suggest 'unknowing'. Such investigations are usually undertaken singularly. And in the end, it's all the same. It's just how you use what you perceive to proceed with the day's activities.
So, ya, Glen. 91st Psalm. Escape to the mountains. Emmett Fox talking about Psalms: spiritual journey. City on a Hill (Jerusalem)
If you read what some call prophecy, and other contend is a road map to human spirits awakening to the knowledge of God, there is a New Jerusalem that finally arrives as a gift from Heaven (from God) and not conceived of or crafted by human hands . . . So what do you need to do, Glen? Just keep believing in Jesus even though you've had some hard knocks. What does any of that all matter in the face of eternity? And please, yes, do go to the mountains. I recommend Stow and Burlington, Vermont this time of year. It's a little late to be making reservations, but I'm sure you probably have the resources for a few days away.
But that mountain, the one that the Psalm allude to, it is often seen by many as a metaphor for coming to awareness within: the Christian arriving to understand that he/she/? has created most of his/her//? problems in his/her/? own mind, and to solve the problem? Unknow them. Un create them. The problem with whatever is that you think that there is a problem with whatever, you behave as if there is a problem with whatever, but it's all in your mind. And yet you act like something is really wrong and the world (those around you) don't understand what is actually wrong with you, and what you are going on about. A vacation where you don't dwell within your own vanities, might give you a time when you can get to that place of unknowing when you start to be Human without trying to be. And stop trying to do, and then accomplish so much relief without doing anything at all: you unknow your troubles. You realize that much of what you have let yourself get tizzified about is just stuff that you made up in your own head.
So, ya, go to the mountains. Go look at some foliage.
Remember, you can enjoy folliage, which is a natural process.
While effective, and essential, prayer does work. However, it is a request. And God is not a Santa. God seems to only be willing if whatever we request is something that He wants for us too. He waits for us to ask so as not to force things on us.
As far as elections: that's public opinion in the form of formal voting. It's God that gave us the free will that allows us to make the selections when we vote. Would God take free will away to force people to vote the way some single person who prays for one specific candidate would want? I'm saying 'no', God isn't taking away our free will, and will not void our votes based upon the wishes or prayers of anyone.
snark-side-commentary: If the election is stolen it will be someone else doing it.
And other point: if the general news of elections rocks you social and intellectual world so much that you 'have to flee to the mountains' in some biblical migration for the purpose of contemplation, maybe it's that you don't really understand what that means? And if you understood what 'flee to the mountains' means, it's way that we behave in our minds, and it manifests itself through the outward ways that result. Vague way to describe it? Basically you retreat to a safe and sheltered place and rest within the knowledge of the facts of what you know, and may not be able to conclusively share with others so that they 'get it'. Remember: faith is a gift from the Spirit, and people who don't have it don't have it. And you can always tell by some clues, such as derision towards your spiritual ways, or mocking of your effective religion. For example, you might dislike the pretense of various scets (any organized congregation for the purpose of worship of Him) however you still recognize them as drinking from the river of life, that they recognize most of whta you do too, and are not persuing the darkness (at least consciously).
A public display of contrition of soul, a 'film at eleven' Pilgrimage, it might make you feel good. But it's a show. And the show is an unnessecary part of the 'flight to the mountains.' Remember that our Lord has said to keep charity secret? What does that tell you about spiritual behaviors? What is the real purpose of such activity for our necessary devotion to the Flooder of the flow, the One who fills the river of life? Or does some person just put on an outward display? Is one just collecting clips for a montage?

Let's get over this 'Trump is a racist' bull. If he were would the politically correct people of NBC television have let him have a 10 year run in his show, The Apprentice? Or, if he were a racist and a bastard, wouldn't we have heard about it 20 years ago? No, all of this was trumped-up (pun intended) after he decided to try and flay the dragon of bad-governance in some of Cartel Washington.
TRUMP
We live in The Rhodium Age, a time when at some point we will be able to literally turn Carbon into Gold, or to write it as a chemical equation:
I leave it to the Chemical menshches to fill in the details of the question mark that I write as part of my mock equation. But you get the idea.
Here is another mock equation where we convert silver to Rhodium and Helium, and float off to heaven in the meantime:
A single Silver atom usually has an atomic mass of 108. Silver 107 may exist as an isotope (hence the weight being less than 108). If one could separate out the AU-107 and use that the above equation, converting Silver into Rhodium and Helium, almost makes sense. We ought to get back Rhodium 103. But I might have all of this wrong, so, Chemists and nuclear physicists, it's up to you to work out details and the 'how'.
Hey, I'm just pointing out what must be obvious to any atomic scienctist: that materials can change from one to another. Perhaps the Helium that we find in the earth is from the decay of Silver into Rhodium? More likely it is produced constantly by solar processes (from the giant plasma streams that bathe The Earth). But here is the real deal: we don't know and they might not want to fund an investigation into how the Helium is produced. And why it hasn't all drifted off into space yet (it being so light) and how we keep getting more of it. I leave it to real journalists to investigate that.
I guess it could be Silver makes a Rhodium and a Helium or Silver makes a Rhodium and two Hydrogen, but it would be heavy Hydrogen, which might make it valuble. But Silver could be broken into many things.
The process to do this is unknown, but the subject of science fiction. Expect a breakthrough.
