Lost? Not Lost!

I read on the Internet that the [foreign region] is lost. The [foreign region] is a giant province, a vassel state for very many centuries. And now [foreign region] is asking for it's independence.

How is it 'lost'? If it is lost then where did it go? What they mean, of course is 'lost to us'. Let me assure all of those over there: our business with that place is not the idea of most of us here. We don't feel that we are loosing anything when that place decides to go in the direction that they want to. Who it is that thinks something is lost to them . . .ought to realize it was never to be had to be lost. So get over it.

When they say it is 'lost' that implies as if the people who are asserting their will there, as they were always there for over three hundred years, it implies that those people are unfriendly and that now that place is no longer accessible to good people who need to go there. But who does? People with friends their, family there. These people who live in Washington, or London, they have a lot of family there? How is that foreign place 'lost' to them?

It didn't sink below the sea. It didn't sail off into a thunderstorm. It didn't disappear from a radar screen. So how is it lost?

how hard is it to use these new symbols in your stuff? Well, first you need to know that they exist. Second, you can just cut and paste them.

So now some maven of self-importance is deeming that the word 'bossy' is, well, a put down to determined ladies. As if.

  In a land of poems
    you can stand over in the wind
      along the ledge
          overlooking . . . 
          
  Big wind will push against the stone.
    the giant lightening with fearsome rolling rumbling
      crushes with rain the wild flowers
       that grow within the crags.
       
  This gives them new life
   after they are partly ripped apart.
    they survive because they are ,
         not because they are smart.
