Politics for Poets

Due to Christmas

This site has been made Merry.

New Year

Snow Storm!

I've got more rework to do at this site. The layouts here can seem random due to old table version architecture that means that styling the widths becomes more problematic. I ought to purge the tables from these pages.

I've considered the issues of content overlap. They hamper the experience because content can be covered over. Laying things out so that there are no gaps is a problem. A column based architecture is a good one, but it doesn't have to be married to an actual html table. But if not then the layouts of various aspects might overlap due to conflicts in layout styles. Some scripted pages can have call-backs on various touch or pointer events to allow for the content to be popped to the top so that it is fully in view depending on the urges of the one perusing the material. A pointer event inside of a div could be a trigger for this. The callback would be called. The div would be popped to the top. Howerver if the browser doesn't have scripting functionality, or the latest working features that are 'supposed to' be there in the lasted version of the html document models (that get set by the standards committees and then implemented at the will-nilly timing of various corporations and/or developers consortiums). At some future time the feature might work if you get an upgrade. But the users want it working now. And they don't want to be faced with significantly different behavior of a page based upoin if they view it in a browser on their television their handheld, on the TFT screen of their automobiles stereo system, or on the panel on the front of their refridgerator (that is a lot of different places, isn't it?). So a developer must worry about what happens to the user experience of the site based upon the availability of variuos html features.

Ah, it's a complex thing to try and present useful content that isn't sub-par. And so, by considering the consequences of changes before those changes get made, I save my self the trouble of making changes just for change sake, or to demonstrate some new feature. And after the ideas gel the changes that I need to make will be simple, like framing in a new wall to an existing structure. If the new walls that get built have sufficient usefulness, the old ones aren't even needed anymore. They can be removed.

And so there is a lot to do and a lot to consider. Planning for doing often results in doing less with much greater effect.

  Less is more.

 It never
 occured to her
  to even notice
 that she could see
   right into the
      livingroom
   of that great big
     house
  on the Lastway
        and Daring
     block at
  33rd street
     the old Victorian
  with the great big yard,
     until one day
  she saw a man
    installing blinds
   so that she could see
      inside no more.

And that is where the story
     begins
she began to need to know
   what went on
  within that house.

  Praise God!
   Praise
       God
    For His
    Unfailing
   Love!
  Praise God!
