Politics for Poets

Wake up!

A leader who leads does what the people want. That is a real leader.

You hire a politician to do a job. They are supposed to do what the people want. If a vast majority is against some whatever-it-is scheme of government, a leader leads the people to have what they need to have. Anyone else is just a bully.

When a leader doesn't like something, say a law that he is personally against, it isn't really correct for them to say 'well, I am not going to enforce this part of the law anymore even though Congress and everyone else has given me funds to do it and have indicated that they would like it to be done as such.

For example, the death penalty is a loathsome thing for some. However, if that is the law and a person commits a heinous act, does a judge have the right to just say "oh, ya, mass murderer, you can go away. We are letting you go." It is the same thing with other kinds of laws and with other officers of the government too. If they don't follow through with their Constitutional duties do we just note it and let them get away with it? There are people that know what to do, to follow correct procedure. Let those people be service oriented and charge them with keeping the books, and the balancing of the cheques.

Checks and balances, not blank cheques and zero balances.

Ok, so, if the poem
     is just a poem
   and it's been rewritten
  while the poet roam
   along the landscape
 of the world that he make
     and he clears away debris
    with his poet's rake
  worried that readers will declare
    that the poet is fake!

   Do I really imagine that the poet
  is this scared guy trying to 
    not let the world know 
  that he is just a fraud?
   And do we dare to delight
    to say that Poetry
   is a gift from . . .

  We have been gifted
     by Shakespeare
    by Wallace Stevens.

 We can read it,
    we can leave it,
   the poet, if he wants
      can delete it.
   
 
        
Outside of . . . some abstract concept
  If you think
   outside
      the box
   you might be
      clever 
     like a fox
  and think of some
                great way
    for a productive day
  to allow you to
    finish your plans
     and make the things
 that you stand to loose
   not matter so much anymore.

  When there is heart break inside of the story
   she always pauses the tape so she can go and get some wine
  and some Bree that she puts on a plate, fancy knifes and
                  expensive crackers.
     she thinks of him, sighs, and then hits 'play'.
