Coders Edge FC13 HTTPD on FC13 LAMP rocks! Fedora Rocks! Upgrade complete! I used preupgrade. The boot sectors did not have enough space for the init. preupgrade asks if you want to continue. You need a wired connection. I have that, so no problem. Nice~! What I had to do for my server last time was a little bit scary. Then I actually deleted the kernel images from the boot sector! The boot sector didn't have enough space otherwise even to hold one kernel image. This time I did the following: yum remove kernel*oldkernelnumbers* for all but the most current fc12 kernel That way I pared down the boot sector files to the smallest amount necessary. Both machines upgraded well! Little bit of video glitch, probably doesn't have the current nvidia driver. Next is the notebook machine. That uses ATI graphics. I had a dream that my notebook computer fell out of my car and smashed, in it's backpack, out on the highway. I am sure the highway was somewhere in Vermont (in the dream) but maybe not. I guess that is my subconscious saying to me screw the notebook computer. Get an app phone. Camera time Here is a tip: Don't travel with the notebook computer unless you are using it for work. Instead get more flash cards for the camera. The weight of thing made travelling very difficult at the SFO airport. I'd travelled all day and was very tired. Then I had to lug the carry-on, the notebook napsack and two suit cases to the rental car. Next time I'm travelling lighter. Less is more! Truth is I did need the computer to download the images part way through the trip. Used to be, years ago, that I would use a 250 Meg card and have to down load pictures two or three times a day while photoing. Now I have an 8 gig and a 16 gig card and I didn't need to transfer images but once this last trip. So . . . one more 16 gig card and I am thinking that I can leave the computer at home. Most good hotels have a PC these days for checking things on line for the guests. It was OK to have the ocmputer to surf the web one night in the motel room. It was not necessary. I did all my writing this trip in a notebook. I also had my Zoom digital audio recorder and made a lot of rambling recordings while travelling through California. Any way: mission success! FC13 is now what I have. WP. 1 PM May 26, 2010
