Coders Edge

Mobile Web Fragments

Phases of System Engineering

If you have your own thing going on, own buildings, whatnot, you have to consider that there are issues associated with maintainance. It costs a lot of money. Make sure you shovel off the roof or hire a professional who will call in a bunch of illegal guys with shovels who will deal with the snow in short order. Send those brave and underdressed guys to shiver their nice day away with a shovel. Guy's going to learn right away what kind of clothing the cold wind requires that gets worn. Make a list of all the things you want to do in your head while you are shoveling. When you get back to the keyboard you can start to think about them somemore. but they don't really live there at the keyboard een tough that is where you may concieve them, oh coder that you are. You have only so many hours in a day. You need to shovel off your roof lest your roof collapse. get at it there, bud. Because you gotta. Meanwhile here are there things that I can think about while I am raking my roof:

Tiling

Style Morphs

There are some clear tradeoffs in doing things in different ways. There is a level of integrity, where things can stand on their own: suscint, well-crafted, easy to grasp. Not seemingly made of vapor and gone the next day after the presentation is over. There are issues with morphing style that seem call out for an answer when the CSS file gets changed so severly by a DOM manipulator . . . then why have the CSS file at all and just have all of your styles set by a style set creature that lives on your web page? Style sheets were designed as a way to make the transmisssion of style data more managable. The style is like the clothing of the data in some sense (though I am sure that this analogy will have very sad consequences of humourous, be they minor, literary natures). So the data, when naked, might be considered not so polite. In the sense that the data is naked. If there really were other clothes for the data to wear, then why not make the data be complete and suscinct and the presentation of the data be locked with in our beautiful CSS file. So now here we are, all of our beautiful clothes. These are our wordrobe for our data set. And we can tag any piece of the data with whatever little tag we would like. Set the style to be whatever you want it to be. the various methodologies of DOM manipulation with Client side scripts provides the clear path to interactive and future oriented web-pages. But what about some types of data that kind of want to be presented in a specific way. There are those types of data where the presentation is most important. The orientation of an icon on a map, for example, is usually not just plunked anywhere upon that map, but is placed with precision at a location where there is a cooresponding feature about which the icon refers. And there will usually be some kind of key off to the side of the map (or provided for remootely, or that the user just knows. . . so that the icon has meaning upon the map. Data like that might be better presented with information about style and positioning being controlled with rigidity by the data presentors. Mushy style sheet placements will disallow the use of the data if the style is selected off. Data like that is good in a bitmap. Say a jpeg file.
