Complex Data Design
Multiplicity of method allows many various forms of data
How do you store the data that you use to craft your web-pages? Do you build everything every time? Do you cache the data into static parts and then knit them together? Do you put data into a database? There is not one 'right' way to do these things. If you use jQuery or the DOM in PHP, or do things with C, what does it matter to me? In any case a good engineer is able to work with a good technolgy or codebase without having had previous exposure to it. New practices ought not be 'secret', and if they are then you hamstring the ability to bring in new members to your important teams. Too much of technology is being maniplated by people who don't actually use it and don't care about it except that they own it. These people are not technologically savey. They ought to have no say and yet they do. 'You have to use this tech, because this is what the company owns.' OK, we can do that. But . . . here are some alternatives. OH, no back talk. You're fired. . . Oh Kay . . . the engineer slinks to his car. WP. Oct 26, 2010
