hello. Let's layout some sized divs
Think of these shapes as envelopes, as the sizes were chosen from a list of stock envelope sizes.
Let's make all the same kind this time. Let's use the smallest size to start.
send me a letter
put it in the mail
give it to a mailman
mailbox is a pail
each with a different stamp
postmark, date
a little bit of history
small, large? different sizes
envelopes come in all sizes
We only use one size here
This demonstration has all UPSS Size 01 , which is 118 x 65 mm
this demo may be scaled, look for a scale button
how could we asign other content to these envelope entities
we call them 'entities' because these are not really envelopes
cataloging of envelopes is interesting and educational.
old envelopes might be moldy
Paper is not easy to preserve long term without a correct enviroment for doing such.
this is a demonstration page for gridded content
Hopefully these have all laid out properly
the spin can be annoying
each of these ought to have a full fledged grid of it's own content

now all we need are some stars!
I did the rainbow stars to make it eccumenical. I'm not loving it. Sometimes things just need to be traditional. I don't consider that if I place white stars, and try to make it an historical representation of a well venerated flag celbrating, in memorial the holy dead. That is what the flag dipicted has represented to so many. Let us bar the usurpation by the ones who later took it as a symbol of their racest cause. That was an usurpatoin of the symbol. Any who are students of American History know this. The Confederate Battle Flag, or the Virginia Battle Flag was something that was takenup by those who venearted their war dead, a holy activity and fully within the realm of both freedom of speach and freedom of religion.
And as for those who really do crimes, whatever colors that they wear, let us prosecute for crimes not for emblems and for colors! You don't jail a flag, you jail a murderer.
Alright, here is one with proper stars in it.

oh, hermit, hermit thrush I can't ever remember your tune it exists outside of time seemingly without rhyme and of incoherent rhythm, and yet haunting . . . with a pathos that no human could ever compose because we can't know the lonely crag the bleak winter the solitary canyon bolders far below within the grove of rotting mountain trees away from home. You weep for a time that can't be without you without me it has to have the connection of the sadness the forelorn journey to a far away hillside where used to be's have piled up like mounds of snow that were plowed away . . . so many weekdays dreaming of her in the far away, holds a dear thought, the hope that, yes, he will be home but he doesn't come. Oh lonely bird when fathers and friends have fled the fields and fallow forests. Giant trees grow tall and green within that scene of glorious sunset takes a long time waiting for them to come back the lonely song of that Hermit Thrush solitary wonderer, he sees the world and weeps for all the sarrows of every creature midnight rain 3 AM car ride fleeing fear apposatives written with crayon on a latex painted wall. Oh lonely day of not living the dream but giving in the fear that Hermit Thrush has it's haunt upon that branch or perche or ledge, he doesn't get any awards for composition and no one, no one, could ever imitate him. If you could speak the langugae of birds, not just listen and you understood the stories that get told by such birds straight to the soul where we always understand such forelorn longings for kin and kind and kitchen sauces kooked by keeping vigilence konstant. He waits there for dad. That bird sings. He's now in the very far away. Years go by. He's gone to some other mountain. He hears that same kind of bird. It entweets it rapid arpeggios of whortling a-rythmic solo like a master tenor. It's that same bird I'm in the same place I'll never do that to my little boy. He bounds up the steps. He scoops his son into his arms. He says 'lets get a lot less lonely. I shouldn't leave family waiting in the cold.' Later in that boy's life, when he's old and his dad is sadly in the grave he'll hear a hermit thrust twortlling song and always be reminded of the joy of family and the importance of doing what you say you will for them like his father did for him and them.
Well, as you can see, I still have some issues with the layout. I'll leave it as an exercise to layout the stars correctly. If you were also going to make a 'real' depiction for Historical purposes you need to worry about the orientation and shape (the exact shape) of the star. It's not good enough if you get the numbers wrong. Or if you made a particularly different star.
So, as you can see, mine is not a perfect depriction of the Virigina battle flag (I am sure that there is a proper name for it). But, as you can see, students of graphic design would allow you to study these layouts, discover how and why they are broken, and provide for a better, and more understandible idiom. The current crypto-methods of CSS are almost a form encrypted concept (a sentence that needs to be rewritten; a kitten, never bitten; the voter smitten).
exercise: have the word 'censorship' show up in giant block letters behind the St Andrews Cross, so that the graphic seems to say 'no censorship'
exercise: fix the issues with the copyright notice showing up on the top of it all.
exercise: using the hover motification algorithm and few lines of code write an interface that will allow for the hovering over the hoverbox and changing the img elements, in mass, to make the 'white star' any bitmap at all.
exercise: Write an essay taking an anti-censorship point of view concerning graphic design. If someone took your design and modified it to include hateful graphics it is the someone who does that who must answer for his/her behavior. But in the real world of censorship litigious often target anyone within the design chain. rigourous support of the first ammendenment is encouraged. Hate and race baiting will be condemned. And litigious ought to know the difference and stop with their war against emblemming that they don't like.
Creativity ought not be styfled by the agendas of fussy agenda-mongering governance, and bully boy censorships. There are very real hardships that many people will experience because an emblem has suddenly been 'banned' by governance seemingly out of sight, and without any real authority of, for or by the people. If this is the start, what next? What other colors or emblems will be suddenly banned, web site disigns suddenly 'forbidden' to meet the cause of just : "do was we say, not as we do". No. an emblem should not be made a taboo at the whim of agenda-mongers in a capital city or an ivory tower place. no. Next they will target clothing considered 'gangsta', or jackets and emblems worn by motorcyle enthusiasts, many of whom have very distinct and provocative embleming. Next it will be union emblems, or the Union Jack (very many people take offense to that as an emblem), or whatever emblem some powerful fussy unknown so deems as 'offensive'. So don't accept that the Virginia Battle flag was such a horrible thing. The real goal of some is that there should be no emblems but theirs.
