It was a beautiful day and we went to see The Gates.

Here is Karen at a dam along the way, some where in Conneticut:

Then we got to New York by taking our secret short route that I won't divulge and got our first glimpse of what we thought was construction fencing. These were The Gates.

We both had a wonderful day walking around the city. We went looking for a specific store but we could not find it. We ate lunch at a wonderful diner near the Ed Sullivan Theatre where the portions were very large.

People in the park were blissful during the whole time.

We tried to decide what color the gates most resembled. We saw a piece of a carrot on the steps to the Muesuem of Natural History (where the bathrooms are easily accessable). The gates were that color.

Bathrooms in the park are accessable which is always a plus after you have driven 3 hours. We were able to park in our secret place. But we had a lot of patience which is best on a snowy morning in New York City.

When you walk between the gates the effect of the saffron (carrot orange) against the blue sky very much soothed the eyes.

New York also had an awesome display of other color as well as shown here:

A requirment that I put on my every visit to New York City is a visit to the very wonderful Strawberry Fields. At this spot there are always lovers of John, George, Paul and Ringo. This is the place where you can go and say a silent happy thought about love and life. The mood is like visiting a National Park, which is different than it used to be. People always leave tributes of flowers and momentos in memorial.

Many people were taking pictures.

The construction of the gates was simple and elegant, engineered to be easily fitted into place. Here is a close up of the bolting on top of a gate:

There were many wonderful views and a lot of happy people. The color was a good choice because it provided a good complement to the color of the sky.

Future options: Rainbow gates. Gates as projection screens. Gates instead of doorways. I am sure that Christos has thought about a lot of things that he wants to do.

The Gates were all different widths. But they were all seemed to be about the same height. They were just a little bit higher than the top of my head. And so a took I wore just was able to touch the bottom of the curtains..
