Politics for Poets

Wedneday at the end of the 'Dark Winter'

I never appriciated hearing that 'oh if you do not elect me the whole world will fall apart'. So what if we did electhim? the world fell apart anyway?.

I have to wonder why health care became so political? since when have I needed a doctor's approval to get married as I would like, in what ever way or hall or church or crowded house, if I may. Some contractor bandit doctor at the Centers for controlling people through diseases . . . should have nothing to say. or a 'vaccine passport'. Hey, that piece of paper is all yech!! maybe I'll get sick if I touch it? but yo uhave to bring it where ever you go? who gve them the keys to the gates of all the cities to say who can and can not enter in through and walk around inside the walls, or outside the walls, or through a tunnel like alleyway. Who made them the kings of the earth?

No one did.

travel videos and vacation place walkthroughs

It's a great way to pass time, but you can't do it everyday. I watch 'walk about' videos of foreign localles. I've 'travelled' to very very many different places. It's a fun hobby to watch them and I like to screen capture and read the signs and plauges and monument even to the point of using the translate to translate from Latin to English. It doesn't do that good a job it's better to find someone's real tranlation and what is very clear to me is that there are free books (yes free!!!) that you can just download and read. So I do that too. Usually these are 100 years old so it's quaint, you know, you get an antique point of view and a lot of gossippy hearsay about things. And you get the names and places and the iternerary and the whole dealeao of the travel writer wrapped within that antique point of view, perhaps not quite getting what is really going on at a place, not really understanding the people.

The walk throughs are cute but, too, you need to say 'who is doing this?' and is it in a style that is useful for me. I don't mind the 'oh it's too close' because I understand that most people imagine watching on a smaller screen. So that would be the right size. But for me the 'no face at all' videos are OK for latenight , like your on a hike. You woke up at midnight after typing furiously all day . . . and doing stuff, and worry, and say "I need a break, let me find me a video". I'm not plugging anyone because I just like to keep it more private. It's more intimite that way in some sense.

And from time to time if it's real you see real people in the doorways of a Cantina and it's a guy with great big shaggy hair and he's got a giant smile and he's there with full cheer. No mask. With his compadres. Guy to the side on a cell phone fiddling like people do. A bunch of other people. and the view of some distant store in the early evening. Go on in and have some wine. I read another travel story about some bonvivant English guy in the Austrian Alps? No it was the former Austrian Alps and it was the Itallian alps and he goes on and on about taking a long hike between monestaries. That is a little book I picked up in a thrist shop. Fun little thing. He explained a lot about the lifestyle of those high mountain places. The people all store their wine in the same choice localle, sometimes a cave. And the walk he describes has him and an English friend, an Italian Signorina, and two Italian men who were clowning around 'at the precipace'

And PS to all of you who are all 'oh at the precipace', the joke is that it's not a dangerous place unless you are a fool. So the travel author explained about how his two young men friends, clowned as if it were the dramatic sad part of sorrowful despair, like an operetic drama, and they were going to throw themselves off the cliff. But they didn't. They wondered on throught he high land trail to the next little hamlet with it's Cantina and the locals there to share the wine on what was probably a holiday or feast day. And the writer describes the ruins of estates and castles that are along the route.

So I could take that little book (thought I haven't done it with that book yet) and find all those places in a walkthgrough or travel video and see the sights that the travel writer saw in the 1920s. I did that with a book on another part, farther south of there, and saw the town at the Straights of Messina and also one where there is a temple of Hera on a point of land (that the author never got to go out to on account of getting sick at the lodging house)

Now that travelling isn't as easy I could reveiw my own cache of travel photos, and my own writings on the places where I used to wonder, through the SouthWest from time to time, and then Seattle for a few trips (and that whole rainy part and the long road to nowhere places where you never see anyone but you know that they see you . . .

And then California and etc, which I have pictures of else where on these pages.

DC

For example DC was always one of my places to go on a whim. I used to enjoy the long car ride through the wild lands of New York and Pennsylvania. I learned to avoid New Jersey on the way down, but go through it on the way up. When I heard about traffic in Jersey being poltically blokcered, I made a point of bypassing it.

But DC was always easy. I'd go there and I'd stay in York the night before. Then get up early, get right into the city in the AM. Handful of quarter dollars (I'd buy a couple of rolls at a bank) to feed the meters and , seriously two hours is enough time in one spot.Sadly though the electronic metering makes it more difficult to do that. And in a lot of places in DC you used to be able to park for free. There is very limited parking there now. So I'd park usually over by the Bueuro of Printing and Engraving and I'd walk over to the Washington Monument. I'd go to the WWII memorial. I'd saunter down to the Lincoln Memorial. I'd photograph the scene, travel photo type photos. I have cherry blossom pictures somewhere. I'd take shots of the Lincoln statue. You can see them on this page (I colorized them) I also made them shake.

And it is that time of year that it's the best time fo year to go there, about a week and a half from now is usually a perfect blooming week. Yet, for some reason I don't think it's going to be the same. I think I'll stay away.

supposedly there will be a presidential speach in just a short whilee . . . , so if a feed breaks in don't be surprised by that, so I have read at another site, but not Parlor or gab because they don't seem taa-work anymore

Who won?

the stripe club at the top of the pyramid at the cap of the obelisk at the end of the old regime . . .

alright, heres the bit, a well known interviewer (like Jerry Sienfeld or other equally well liked famous hollywood person ) uses the following approach in a bit:

"i've been asleep since . . . mid October, who is the president"

and I dare anyone famous to go do this bit out in the streets and live stream it with random non celebrities giving their unfettered opinions on the matter . . .

Whatever. Life goes on.

No worries.

if you don't have proper fonts installed you won't see what this picture shows: the output of the echo command with unicode symbols as input. If you are blind basically the unicode are symbols that you could feel as shapes. If you have a 'font box', which would be like that divice with all the pins in it that you can place your hand inside, and the shape of your hand will appear on the surface. If such a thing locked, it would then let a blind person feel it and they would feel the shape. such a device that does that for font shapes would greatly aid the blind. It would be a 'kind of' high resolution new-braille. Call it a 'sean-box' font reader.

Here is today's pretty poem:

Say you say you say you said
will it matter
when you're dead?

I don't know just what to say
but I'll say it anyway.

I don't know
where we went wrong
I wrote my sarrows
in this song
I thought by now
that I'd be strong
I hope it doesn't
take that long.

Say you said you said you say
will it matter
anyway?

I don't know where we went wrong
I turned around and you were gone.

I don't know the reason
for your buddies leaving
but love's not out-of-season
gotta keep believeing
in Love!

  a ballad
