how do I even know if anyone even sees these pages? I suppose that's why I stopped updating them

And did he ever even get to that part about 'helmet safety' and that the guy in the photo wasn't wearing one?

Oh, no, yet another topic for the echo factory to pretend that people care about and repeat over and over.

 this is a lot more
             fun
         than wading
         in through the chan spam.

if you don't have proper fonts installed you won't see what this picture shows: the output of the echo command with unicode symbols as input. If you are blind basically the unicode are symbols that you could feel as shapes. If you have a 'font box', which would be like that divice with all the pins in it that you can place your hand inside, and the shape of your hand will appear on the surface. If such a thing locked, it would then let a blind person feel it and they would feel the shape. such a device that does that for font shapes would greatly aid the blind. It would be a 'kind of' high resolution new-braille. Call it a 'sean-box' font reader.

The Message Column

Protest yourself

Protest your own Hatred

Rebel against your own compulsions of conformism to the tattered and false-cause liberalism of the jaded elites who puppet string many aspects of various narratives.

Nevermind 'save the world', save yourself from being a thrall of the intollerantagencia.

Stop reflecting your own hatreds and putrid world view upon your rivals in politics

Are 'they' (who they?) really planning riots?

Spooked by the crybaby activast crowd going into freakshow mode? Worried that your local platoon of clueless jaded apparatchicks are going to go on a rampage tomorrow? I'll guess that it will fizzle, like a wet fuse on a box of firecrackers. Ya, it looks dangerous, but it will be contained within the safely alloted space.

When we elected Donald J. Trump, we weren't just ef-in around, you know. We weren't dedicated to him so much as dedicated to the idea that the current crop of conformist pukes of the old garden (that we call this wondorous garden, the people's garden, the beautiful display of all the concerns of the world, for the future, it's for the children.

Service. It's what most people in government do. And then, we have a crowd who are self-dealing. It's a smaller percent. And then, on top of it, we have to worry about the fact that some cartel-oriented pukes, of the false-cause governance (not government) get into our (or any government) and they sit there like a lamb at a teat, for the rest of their silly lives, yumming it up at the government teat. How many, or what percentage, are of that ilk, to be a grotesque parody of a man (woman, ?) that they'd just be there to self-deal and enlarge their own, their moity, their special friends, their particular type of cray cray, for their cray cray day and pills and yum and rum and soda and wine and free trips and lottery tickets that you buy with looted EBT cards and a trip to the bank for boxes of cash and a trip to the gold shop for boxes of gold. And a new appartment building where all the 'low-income' housing gets allocated to friends of the poo-bah.

"Bah" you say. I've gone too far. You don't like my fowl story? About the festerbog and the subversion of government or governance of institution for the private interests of some-few who delude to be in control, and perhaps could be classified, in some such, as being part of some otherwise unnamed group who conspire . . .

But who knows, really, what they do, and why. The basic point is that as long as people are causing insurrection (riots) then a lot goes on that is unknown and people (criminals? criminals within the governance?) sometimes 'get away' with having some kind of scheme, like my imagined on where some gove-connect person has an in on the EBT system and can buy lottery ticekts with them (which, if you win, gives you a good laundered income, doesn't it).

I give out my stupid stories of anecdotal institutional maleficence, which I attribute to the common (dead common) methodologies of a certain (and necessary) crowd. Let me tell you about some of them. They are born into their parent's family and their parents are 'players' in that region and have a little shop in the down town. They know how to fill out all the grant paperwork and always collect from the various pots of cash. When was the last time your family was able to do that? In any case junior is a legacy and he/she/? is going to inherit it, and that means that he/she//? will be running for the various offices in that little municipality. It's like a franchise and they got it and they pass it on like it's inheritance. Dead common. Dead common behavior and necessary, in some sense, to keep continuity in the world and assure that various talents of necessity are passed down. These people don't just live for themselves, that is a stereotyping that the story teller can do, and people can do in their minds. Sometimes when politically connected dynasties are ensconced, they achieved good will by doing really good things for worthy (and also unworthy,we have to be fair, no special favor people should be endured for more than a generation or two ).

My point: the fact of the jaded governance isn't really a fact. In fact, an inherited political office might give the inheritor a better idea on how to best run that office. And all people who can pull the lever and get a payout, every time, they don't always do it, do they? Just because you know how to root-kit your mainframe, and bring the company to it's knees, doesn't mean that you'd ever really do that. You would not. So, that being said, people aren't generally villainous and it doesn't benefit them to burn down the town because they lost an election. So who is it that wants to burn down the town? That happy town for Friday and our wondrous democratically elected candidate did become the President elect and there are mush-minded morons (alleged) who some say are plotting to crash the party, but not in joyous wedding-crasher style (where everyone has something from the buffet, and we can all fall in love), but to do a repeat of various street protests of the last few years, glorifying some fight against ? ? ? as if this will help them or anyone.

If it were the other way around and the other candidate had pulled off what they were assured was a guarantee, and she had accomplished what they (who they?) had wanted, imperious, and total cray cray of heedless and out of touch aristocratic poser. We would be on the verge of the Jezibel-itocracy that has been coveted by various political moities. They got that now in Germany and they sell off their nation to be inhabited by agitators for the cause of the . . . who seem to have no law at all except that they should be supreme. Am I changing the subject? So we know that some huge cause of money and power of a huge nation who own so much of the world and want their supremicism to be complete, and have a sad stereotypical view of Americans and they pay off these political operatives (of the Left) to agitate for their open border insanity? And since they have so very very very much money, they were almost able to buy the whole thing off? We might have just been sucked off into the wasteland of perpetual jade, the do-who-you-know-who I am yammering of people who don't understand how far down into the Rabbit hole that they have fallen. They have a cause for which they want to riot and they don't even know what it is? So it almost seems like these rioters are a fiction.

Are they angry that they can't keep getting their way? Their heedlessness to any voice other than one of their puppet clown voices, the fully-funded oligarchy of incompetent grant-hounding 'scientists' who write what they are paid to write and given the conclusions before the start of the research (more fiction? or do you have examples? foot notes? More anecdotal made up plausible explanation for how such bunk got passed off as science?

What are they angry about? What are they protesting? That we didn't get an imperious wicked administration? That they will have to start following the law again? That they won't be getting as much grant money? What are they protesting?

Or are they just another story? No real protestors against Trump, just imagined?

Give it some time. Trump didn't want to be emperor, though the system was set up for the next president being like that. And so those who know just how rediculous the presidency has gotten might understand how rediculous Trump could become . . . and they perhaps delude that the worst of what their crowd had been planning would be vindictively reversed and put on them. Let me be clear. There is not, nor has there ever been a war against the Left from The right, like the left seems to be waging against the Right. But in fact, no one on either side is doing that, it's some other group who fund this. They aren't concerned with good government. They are not concerned with law and order. That makes me think that they don't even live here. They want our nation to fall into conflict and they have their operatives here already, and they fund this nonsense to make us look like fools.

OK, I give out all this conjecture. Of course I do it in a style where it almost could be said that I believe some of my speculations. Who? Why? What? Where? The speculations about all the agitation? I really know very little about it but it does give me a lot of ideas for fiction. But the fiction of conjecture. And what is or is not true? About why some are so opposed to a man who is a really good choice?

So why the call for protests on inaugaration day? Maybe that call is a hoax too. Limited and peaceful protesting should be seen as a benefit, it keeps us on our toes intellectually and gives us food for thought. The rioting and the planning for stinking up and spoiling seems to be a far fetched plot of lame-minds. When governments fail there are alternative ways that people keep order. Condoning behavior is not what I do here. I describe what has been common. Lawlessness is not long endured. Rioting is not something that politics, polite politics, can condone. Any who do condone rioting should understand what 'fair warning' is. The laws against sedition and rioting go back very long into the past.

If it were turned around, and the other candidate had won the election, then can you imagine what tomorrow would be? And first executive order? It's like a dark nightmare, what would have been. Confiscation. Agitation. Constant neighsaying queen of the putdown telling us all how horrible we are for not seeing her radience, deplorible.

I could conjecture as to how the situation would have proceeded. But instead, lets imagine that when you drain a swamppy place you need to mitigate the polution that might be within the outflow. And not all parts ought to be dry. Nor should everywhere be wet either. Those who perform well their duties, and follow the rules of public office, and have not been self-dealing selfishly, and feathering their own nests, probably aren't going to have all the water shut off for their little plot of irrigated land. But those who whallow within the festerbog and set up snares and traps for their prey, who they see as fair game (the lambs who government ought to protect who, instead are often served up for yet more yum for those who can't seem to get enough of it, or is this, too more just annecdotal fiction?)

Trump is known for saying you're fired as his catch-phrase. The flip side of that is all the people who do well and do not get fired, but instead are given more tasks and continue on with in the organization. Trump is to be the next president, and that means that he can fire people. But all the laws against heedless firing and shot-gun managment (Jerk-management) bungie boss behavior, our system of federal employement isn't voided just because we have a new show-man president who likes to open floodgates (and drain the swamp). It's not really a swamp. Most of what goes on is actually critical infrastructure. For all that, who will be worrying?

Alright, it's early in the morning and I should n't be worrying about the posibility of riots tomorrow. I've never met anyone who has ever suggested it. It's all just put in my head by stuff that I saw while surfing on the Internet.

People don't tend to soil their own nests. A riot is doing that. So I think it's alittle bit far fetched that will happen tomorrow. Rediculous protests? People blocking traffic? They got away with it under the milktoast regime of the pajama-boy president. The new president is perhaps going to start enforcing the laws.

alright, I'll stop now. I'd drive to DC tonight. I could get a $100 dollar room out of the city near a metro stop. But I think it's going to be a little cold there, like here. If I drive that far I'd rather keep going. Maybe just stop for a few hours and enjoy some marching bands? But it's going to be a big crowd and I'd be travelling by myself to be in it so . . . I'm guess not.

As a tourist city DC is an easy destionation. Or at least it used to be easy. Now, with the last 8 years? The local government is reported to be using traffic enforcement as a major revenue enhancer, and using traffic cameras to do it. So it's punitive. They punish the climate deniers in their vehicles. How dare you have a car and want to visit our capital city? So do be careful there, they can be a little bit confiscatory in their traffic enforcement. It's not to keep it safe, as it should be, but it's a shakedown. So using the metro is a good idea.

I always park over near the BEP. That is across water from the Jefferson Memorial. You can park there and walk to most anywhere you want to be. I like to go to Union Station, they used to sell numismatic items there. Now you need to go to the US Mint building, I think on 9th street. Despite all the times i have been to DC, I've never toured the White House. Maybe soon?

I've been plotting a trip to DC. It's better to go when the weather is warmer.

Most of tourist Washington is under the management of the National Park Service and the dEpartment of the Interior. There are some parts of the mall where the Geese are that aren't that nice to walk through. You think by now they'd have an automated robot bird poop scooper. All that guanna makes good fertilizer.

I've seen pictures of protests where there are thousands of people at the mall. They will be everywhere. Even where I know that goose droppings are all around.

A memorial for the signers of the Declaration of Independence had fallen into disrepair some years back, and was actually closed off from the public. I found this curious and wondered if maybe it sent some kind of a subtle message? Hopefully they've fixed it by now.

I've never seen the MLK memorial, but I hear that some find it devisive. From the pictures of it I can tell that I don't like it. Why? Because Martin spoke of climbing the mountain. And there, at the 'memorial' to him they have a mountain, but it's split in half. There is a chasm between two sides: symbolics of the constant on-message agitation of a certain crowd. In that sense I feel that this 'memorial' is merely another example of Olmec-head quality grotesque statuary, like giant heads of Communist tyrants. The memorial seems to be an usurpation of The Reverend King's legacy and person for the purposes of Internalistic urges of the left. But maybe tht makes you say that I have hangups.

   In essence of form?
a Buddha statue of that man, doesn't suit him.
They dress him in their own hard stone
and try to steal his brilliance from the world
and to bully in a world of their own hegemony,
the divided country behind them as a cleaved stone mountain,
a crass attempt to destroy the symbols of the great man's oration.
A Buddha statue of that man, doesn't suit him.
He is dress in their indignation
from their lack of understanding
of what he really meant
when he meant what he said.

And he did mean it.

You have to undress him then,
and see him as naked and afraid
and understand that he was actually a man.
not a chess piece monolith.

So if you make chess-piece monoliths,
and put them in a park,
chess pieces are made to be moved.
Parks can be used to model the backdrop
of videogame levels . . .
where the stones and statues
can often be rolled or moved somehow
to perhaps solve a puzzle.

So roll that stone backwards
and fill in the gap
and make that monolith less loathsome.

In essence of form? what does that mean anyway?

Political and Media Inanity

Kafka wrote comedy. Orwell was a pessimist. Depends who you ask.

Imagine if they both could have lived and made it to Los Angeles, post war, and been collaborators on writing romantic screwball comedies for Hollywood. If we search IMDB for movies written by Kafka, or by Orwell, will we find one? I kind of doubt it.

by Truck-u-later

Truck-u-later

in this column Truck-u-later steps in deeper . . .

Oh the stories they tell . . .

Most people in government do their jobs well, and are not corrupt, and don't take to group-think and agenda mongering. The government is not one mind, nor is it with common ends. Governance and government are not the same. Spies and watchmen are a necessary part of all society. We've all been spied on since birth. It allowed for better safety. It allowed us to thrive. We work better in a hive. We like to be accepted by our peirs, and we love praise and adoration. And Russians are not our enemies.

The Olmec Heads of the Last Regime . . .

At the end of dictatorships often times we get to deconstruct the monumental mistakes of the last regime. Such pieces of grotesque sculpture ought to be removed. More fitting, humble, and simple memorials ought to be put in their place.

Chess piece monolith with retrograde symbology of separation, and domination of bully delusion, and an usurpation of the sculpture subject's personality.

If it were a video game backdrop, the various 'sculptures' would move along some kind of track, and that would be used to key various other effects of the level. So, for that sculpture, I don't know, if you move it back into it's mountain form the other monument nearby becomes something else? Like a Tesla tower? If that's what the sculpture does, it really ought to be dismantled. laughing?

Ya, no.

Somethings never change
nothing need stay the same
ah, but on a website
the constant change
 is kind-of the point . . .

change without continuity and tradition is often very hard to manage for those thrust into it. And thus the frame of things gives a place for the change to happen. If you violate that idea then you are coming up with something completely different and maybe no one will want to see your new idea, or use your great, new venue, because it's too far out, and very far away from what they currently care about. It's a nether or a meta and it's merely for a lark? Or does it become the next big thing? As fun as graphics are (CGI) and animation, and making a world to fly around in (like minetest, which is easy when you learn how) ultimately such a meta is a hollow place. It's a distraction during the season of gaming. It allows one to brush up on geometry and math, and architectural design, it gives people training in computer languages, it allows someone to make some graphical ideas, and pass a few hours of time every few days or so . . .

To live within such a realm really isn't possible.

Poem Shards

just who reads, who writes these poems?
off a mountain road the poet roams
but only in a poem.

Realizing that the empty
is empty
and not needing anything there.

just who shows up and for what?
I'm lonely or am alone or what does it matter?
driving off towards the nothing
walking along the nowhere path
up high
sure, it's a pretty view
but seen it, done it, jaded, back to the air port
he flew
his fantasy of happy vacation was through.

The deep snow.

The deep snow. She doesn't know how deep. She didn't think about it. Depth of snow no one know in rills and hollows where you shouldn't go when the storm is fierce and the night is cold even you shouldn't be so bold. poem is from 2012 short story titled Blizzard Baby The morning light is hued in cold awareness. Warming in the sun the bunny explores the snow covered lawn. The tracks melt by mid morning. Bunny doesn't know what the song means, anyway. This giant bubble that we call awareness? Coders Edge

served to you by:

Fedora Core 38 beta

Ya, I decided to load Fedora Core 38 Beta about a month ago, and this machine kept shutting down . . . I think I finally fixed it. Tomorrow is the big release day for the Fedora Core 38. My production workstation is still running FC37. I don't know if I'll jump right on it right away. . .

my server is still resetting, or maybe I have it fixed. I decided to just remove plasma-desktop, as I don't use it. The journals were giving all kinds of errors with that, and I think that might have been the issue, conflicting with the gdm that I do use. Worst case I'd just go to runlevel 3 but, as I said in another column, I don't really even know if anyone views these pages anyway.

My production box would upgrade but the dnf says it would downgrade grum and associated tools, and that's never a good thing to do. I'm just not going to do it! anyway I'll check tomorrow when the offical release is and probably do it then. If I'm in the mood.

So now I've run every version of Fedora serving this website! that's a long time.

here is from a year ago:

Fedora Core 36 beta

It took some time to figure out how to defeat the new screensaver built in, but I was able to. It's the biggest downside to the new Gnome.

I set the keybindings to something I don't use, and then put in a custom keybinding to use the old tool.

There are other minor things that annoy too, like the restoration of a deleted file that I always have to delete again on every FC core upgrade. The file is name camera-shutte.oga. It's in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo

At the precipice of coding.

a mountain trail often has a place with a great view and a perilous fall if you wonder just a bit too far to one side of the trail. It's called a precipice. It's not a scary place. It's a safe place that one passes through.

OK, so I've done an update to FC34.

the biggest issue was . . . . drum roll . . .a lock up of gnome.

and if i clicked on the activities button I would need to reload (log out log back in).

I was able to run stuff without that, and thus determined a list of files that might need to be removed. I did as full reinstall of gnome as such:

dnf reinstall gnome

then I did a

dnf list installed |grep fc33

which gave me a list of files to consider uninstalling.

from that I got the following:

first odd issue:

sudo was not at first working! I had to install it! I kept the configuration file so I have my preferences still set up.

dnf install sudo dnf reinstall gnome-* dnf reinstall kde* dnf reinstall NetworkManager* dnf remove gnome-screensaver dnf remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-20.04.0-2.fc33.noarch dnf remove xorg-x11-xkb-extras-7.7-33.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove compat-openssl10-1:1.0.2o-11.fc33.x86_64 dnf remove mozjs60-60.9.0-7.fc33.x86_64

there are still some fc33 packages, (I also looked for fc32 packages, anything older that was gnome)

sudo dnf list installed |grep fc33
biber.noarch 2.14-4.fc33 @fedora
gamin.x86_64 0.1.10-37.fc33 @fedora
libgta.x86_64 1.0.9-5.fc33 @fedora

if removing a package also removed large numbers of other packages, I left it. For each of the few that I did remove, I always would make sure by reading what would happen before agreeing to the transaction.

now the gnome-shell is working and it doesn't lock up. So which of the packages that I removed made the difference? I am not sure.

and so after just a few short hours of install, I've got my system working in away that seems normal.

the new gnome shell moves the icons to the bottom of the screen.

I find gnome-shell to be annoyingly poppy at times. I tend to do things rapidly, and all the popping can be nauseating.

It is helpful to learn how to use dnf. I've found that the reverse history stuff works as long as you haven't made too many changes. It's a dicey, though, to try and go back to an older revision but I did it ONCE. Next time it didn't work out so well. AT that point it was installing dnf and yum from rpms.

and I had success. It's the kind of thing that when you know how to do it . . .

but there was one other trick that I needed and it was a scary way to reset a password and I did discover how to do it. I'm not sharing that one (barely remember) it's like these things exist in a nether, and it's best to . . . let the knowledge fade unless you need it. It's too scary to dwell in that space.

anyway, gnome shell is working. It's not flighty and hanging up. And all it took was to remove the old packages of gnome that might conflict with it. And now I can continue with my review.
